Thank you Heywood...i have no evidence that Thomas is the brother of Francis...but just going on that they both come from galway.and both ended up in tynemouth.and they are both in the same age bracket...jenny

So I think I'm going to have a tough job in finding anything new on Francis melville or his family and where abouts in ireland...if I went to Galway...and went into library's or churches would I find any local references....

Thank you all for helping me...i got the first name wrong sorry...my gt gt gt granddad was Francis melville born around 1806 the 1841 census does say Galway ireland..he moved to stamfordham Northumberland don't no what year...but he got married to Sophia Maxwell at st Nicholas church in tynemouth in 1828....i just wondered f the census says ireland.where is the papertrail that led them to put ireland  on the census....thanks again....jenny

Thank you sinnan.i don't know anything about him.only that he was Roman Catholic ..on the 1841  census in England it says he was born in galway F

im trying to find my gt gt gt uncle a mr thomas melville,,,born in 1811.in galway ireland.i keep hitting a brick wall....any one know how i can find birth records.....jenny
