My grandmother didn't remember much about her father but gave me a photo of him the door that he's in front of has the insignia of the Royal Artillery with SUB SEC 3 - 417 BATTERY. Every time I try to get anywhere with this i seem to get nowhere any help at all would be great as my Grandmother is no longer with us for me to question her.

World War Two / Serious help needed!!
« on: Tuesday 03 February 15 12:51 GMT (UK)  »
Hi I'm wondering if any of you can help me..... I have asked on here before but the help I was given hasn't gotten me anywhere as i don't have full infantry name and I don't have his service no, so cant really get anywhere, if anyone would be so kind to look him up (if they can) My great granddad's name is Robert Morrow Gillies and I know from family stories that he was too old to go to war so was drafted to help at home. He seemingly was part of the army that worked the search lights on the firth forth at the bridges here in Scotland, Some kind gentle man has told me that the regiment was 56th ? light infantry of the royal artillery, but whether that's right I cannot tell. I just cannot seem to find any info on it at all!! please someone help me, I'd love to know more about him, as I never really met him as I wasn't nearly a year old when he passed away so have no recollection of him.

kind regards
Gill

Hi all, I'm just gonna put this out there in to hopes that someone knows/is part of this family!!
I am William Stewart's great granddaughter his parents were Duncan stewart and Janet Stewart (nee Mullen) they had a company called D #stewart & son's farm haulage of Strathaven. I'm writting this as the family is getting smaller as the years go on and I'd love for someone to be able to get back to me telling me where there is family so that I can go back to my Granddad (only son of William Stewart and Mary (Orr) Stewart and say see who I found for you (also hoping for to get a reunion for him)
I thank you all in advance
Kind Regards
Gillian Stewart
