Hampshire & IOW Lookup Requests / Re: William Collins

Thanks Nell

That is what I thought that Hampshire was not west but more South!
I think that the link may be in the names of William & Sarah Collins children : William:Catherine; Jane; Walter ;Emma (my grandmother) ;James Thomas ; Sarah Teresa ;Elizabeth ;Thomas; John ;Shedrack; George; Ruth and Harriet . But they could be taken from the siblings of Sarah Collins 's father James Knight a convict who had his way with her mother Diana Mudgee a full blood Aboriginal then dumped her for a 17 year old white girl. Back to the drawing board I think ?

HI Little Nell

I have little or NO info. about my G/grandfather William Collins other what was on his Death certificate born West of England. I don't think that the William Collins that arrived on 10/3/1839 whose native place was Hamshire England was my William because this William died in Victoria.
Originally I thought that my William Collins was christened on 7th May 1820 at Stithians Cornwell parents were William Collins and Ann Henwood who were married 25th June 1818 at St. Martin on Looe Bay Cornwell England . This couple had several children whose names were the same as my William and Sarah Ann Collins’s children i.e. Jane; James, Thomas, John and Elizabeth.
William Collins senior served in the 4th.of  Foot Regiment from 1820 and in1829 was discharged aged 35. His record stated that he was born in 1794 at Penryn Cornwell which is in St. Gluvias region which adjoins Stithians. He served in England, the West Indies and Portugal. His regiment the 4th Foot fought with many other regiments at the Battle of Waterloo in 1815, later became known as The King’s Own Royal Border Regiment
Again I am not 100% sure. as I have limited records here in Australia.Ther were 3 Collins that arrived aboard the Arygle in 1841 Thoams 24 shepard;William 20 farmer and Edward 22  farmer all came from  England No other info. was on the Log.My G/grand mother Sarah Collins Nee Knight was a half cast Aboriginal & wouldn't have any relatives with English names to chose her own childrens names !

HI Kim and Rosie

Thanks for your help but I don't think it's my William Collins ? I originally thought that he came from Cornwell but recently a relative said that she thought that he came from Hampshire.
He is a bit of a mystery man. I have written a book about his wife's mother who was an Aboriginal and I would dearly loved to find out more about him (my G/grandfather). His Death certificate stated : Died :19/8/1896 in Wellington NSW.
Occupation : Farmer,Age :72 years ;Name and Occupt. of father : William Collins soldier, Mother's name :[Caroline surname unknown Born :West of England town unknown ,about 56 years in NSW. but he could have arrived in Port Phillip Victoria ? But he spent most of his life in NSW.
Informant S.Collins wife,Lincoln . His age varied greatly on his 14 childrens' birth certificates but I think that he was born was about 1820 as he lowered his because of his young wife.
