The Common Room / Re: Inventory at Kimbolton Castle

Can be quite tricky, my Essex ones are a bit different and not in the italics like the canterbury etc wills, they are more like lists made locally.  Were fun to read!

Yes, also the one I have found  :)

would there be any with any Wills?  Not sure how detailed they would be.  I have seen inventories for some of my Essex people down to the last sheep!  But none for anyone else.

This is another great tip. I have found the will from the second duke, now just need to read it :)

Thank you!

Many of the papers of the Dukes of Manchester are in Huntingdonshire Archives, though I believe they are currently inaccessible because of a pending move to a new archives building in Ely.

One of my great grandfathers was head gardener at Kimbolton Castle, having been brought there from Tandragee Castle, Co. Armagh, another of the Duke's properties. It's not impossible that some of the records might have got a bit mixed up - it may depend whether a statue was thought to belong to the house and estate, or to be a more personal possession. I think the Tandragee papers are at PRONI, so that may be somewhere to try while waiting for Huntingdonshire items to become available.

Thanks a lot for the information and tips. I'll be looking in this direction.

Thank you!

Thank you, and happy to be here  :)
Thank you for the link.

I have actually contacted them and waiting for their answer.
In the meantime, I am exploring all other possible venues.

I am researching on a statue that comes from Kimbolton Castle and very likely acquired by the first Duke of Manchester.
I am wondering if anyone is aware of inventories from the castle from different times.
