Am aware of what you sent thanks Joe.
My connection is distant but John Slavin (b 1904 to John and Janet Darby) married my fathers sister.

1891 Scotland Census
At 42 Cheapside St Glasgow
John Slavin  head age 48 Shoemaker b Ireland
Ellen Slavin Wife age 49 b Ireland
John Slavin Son Unmarried age 24 Shoemaker b Ireland
Thomas Slavin Son Unmarried age 20 Ship Labourer  b Ireland
Michael Slavin Son Unmarried age 14 Scholar b Ireland
Patrick Slavin Son Unmarried age 11 Scholar b Ireland
These are all  step children of Ellen as RC baptisms at Letterkenny name mother as Frances McGlinchey

Ellen's name on marriage of John to Janet Darby in 1893 gives her parents as defintely
David McLauchlan and (hard to read - Annie?) McGhee.

The trouble is on census no townlands are given so hard know where to look.

Did John and Frances have any children born in Scotland? If so, get one of the birth certificates (on Scotlandspeople) because they should record where and when the parents married.
Not that I'm aware of. I have a scan of a death of an Ellen Slavin. Her parents are on the marriage of John shoemaker Mk2 to Janet Darby in 1893 in Larnark
Her parents are named as David McLauchlan and Ann/ie? McGhee both are deceased presumably Ireland

oh dear  :(

this is john's birth on scotlands people.  this will give you an address for the family.
if he was a butcher like his father, do you think he could have worked in the family business.  maybe we could look at the phonebooks on ancestry.  do you think the butcher's was in glasgow around 1933?
the only Slavin I know of in Larnark is John Slavin who married Janet Darby. He was a shoemaker and lived in Cheapside St. His second wife was an Ellen Mclauchlan who died jan 1901 curiously she (Ellen) is still living at Cheapside Poor house Infirmary 3 months later in census record her husband John is at 42 Cheapside St (a widower)
oops I should have said it was the son (John) also a shoemaker who married Janet Darby
