The Common Room / Re: Whatever happened to James George Le Tallec
« on: Monday 05 August 19 21:50 BST (UK)  »
George had worked in the railways (Cited on his marriage certificate of 1926) but in later electoral rolls his occupation was listed as labourer (1927,1928,1931,1934,1936), then storeman (1937).

His last address in Grey St., East Melbourne was probably a boarding house. In the 1937 electoral roll others listed at the same address included:
Minda Cox, Harold Gouey, Percy John & Evelyn May McGrath

In the Australian electoral rolls, George and Annie were listed at the following addresses:
1926 - 1928   67 Athol Street, Moonee Ponds
1929      16 Sydenham Street, Moonee Ponds
1931      31 Mackay Street, Essendon (electoral roll)
1931      32 Hutcheson Street, Moonee Ponds (listed as Geo Le Tallec)
1932 - 1934   11 Pink Street, Flemington
1935      37 Chelmsford Street, Flemington
1936                30 O’Shannassy Street, North Melbourne

However for the years 1937-1941, George and Annie were listed at separate addresses:
George:             56 Grey St., East Melbourne
Annie:               30 O’Shannassy Street, North Melbourne

When Annie filed for divorce in late 1944 on the grounds of desertion for three years and upwards, as advertised in "The Age", Tuesday 26 September 1944, page 4, the last known address for George was Grey Street, East Melbourne. The case was heard in front of the Civic Justice (Sir Edmund Herring) on Wednesday, 13 Dec 1944.

Of the records sighted to date (eg electoral rolls, phone lists, BDM records, World War 2 records) there has been no later mention of (James) George Le Tallec.
Can anybody help with details of where he went?

James George Le Tallec was born on 12 Aug 1902 at Mt. Duneed or Anglesea, Victoria, to parents Mary Cardiff Hawkey (nee Mead) and Jean Marie Le Tallec. George married Annie Maud Freeman on 15 Jul 1926 and they had three daughters. However have been able to find no records relating to George post 1941. His wife Annie "Bobby" was granted divorce on grounds of desertion in 1944.
Does anybody know anything about what happened to George?
