That makes sense. Thank you.
No,they didn't always tell the truth . My grt grandmother included.
If she hadn't of lied when registering my grandfather's birth then I wouldn't of had the surname of pankhurst 😂

Yes, Angelina Elizabeth Brooker and Benjamin Charles Brooker were both resident at Wandsworth Road in 1939.  The register was in force for the period 15th October 1939 to 14th October 1940. (I should have checked those dates earlier. )

Cyril F R Goddard and May Winifred Goddard are there in 1936 as well as Ann & Harry Taylor so presumably in multiple occupation.  Only the Goddard family are there on the 1939 register.

Andelina and Benjamin were both together at the Wandsworth Road address in 1936 so should really be there on the 1939 register
Hi Rosie.
Thank you . I'm going to look into them right now.
Any idea why the written numbers should be added on the very far right of the certificate ?  I've never come across this before .
Thanks again .

Hi Tony.
Above the written numbers was the word adopted, and then underneath that was the nameof the registrar.  Then underneath that was the written numbers . It's all very odd ,and I know what about no occupation.  I'm with you in thinking she was very young .

Hi
London electoral registers have two women registered at that address in 1950 (10 Gladstone Terrace).
No janet but an another female  Brooker and seemingly unrelated female.
Unsure if still living but I can pm the names.
Yes please. Thank you Cathy.

Hi Tony.
Unfortunately No, it doesn't.
It doesn't have a column for that to be included . Only father's occupation but she wasn't married so no name of father either.
Just name ,surname and maiden name of mother ,in column 5 and in column 7 where it says signature, description and residence of informant, it says Janet Brooker, mother ,10 gladstone terrace ,battersea.
Just out of interest, did the registrar visit maternity wards back then ?

I've been asked ,by a friend to look into her paternal birth grandmother.
Her father was a adopted very soon after birth . He has since died and he didn't know anything about his birth family.
So, the birth certificate came yesterday , and had the usual on it ,a part from three written numbers right of the very last column. Underneath each written number is the initials of the registrar.
After Column 10. Its written as follows.
Eleven.
Initial of registrar.
Twelve.
Initial of registrar.
Thirteen.
Initial of registrar....
I'm just hoping it's not the mother's possible age .
The adopted child was born 17th Nov 1950 and registered 21st Nov . He was registered by the mother ,but it seemed all so rushed.
The birth was at St George's hospital,London,  and the address his mother gave as residence was 10 gladstone terrace, battersea.
She was Janet may brooker . No clues as to where she was originally from either.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. 🙏

Yes you can order it (anyone can). An adoption doesn't change access to the original record.
Thank you 😊
I’ve ordered it again , with the right volume number this time .
What an idiot I am 😂

Thank you , but when I had a look I’d put the wrong volume number.
In my defence, I’ve had a busy week 😂
I’ve ordered again. There’s nothing , when ordering, asking if I’m related to that person ,so I live in hope .
Thanks again 😊
