I contacted them and they said their  documents were missing for the time I  wanted details about.

Hi Garry

It is possible to get a pre adoption birth certificate.  You need extra documents to get these

If you ring BMD   they will email you all the details.

Hope this helps. I have got a pre adoption birth cert for an adopted person.

The person has this address on their Birth Certificate so have no idea who would have lived there. Trying to think of a way to work out if it was a private house or unwed mothers as he was adopted.
The only name it could be is Limbrick but not sure.

I have someone born in 1929 at  76 McDonald St. Napier.
Was there an unmarried mothers home there.

They were adopted so wondered  if it was a private house or for unmarried mothers

Hi all

I have a copy of a statement of Service from NZR  for a relative who was employed from 1898 until 1920.

It makes interesting reading with the pay each week and the last comment
"Dismissed for deliberately refusing to obey orders"

It came from the Wellington Archive Office.
