Cambridgeshire / Re: Blackwell/Bridgeman marriage 1810
« on: Wednesday 15 July 20 16:29 BST (UK)  »
I'm a bit late with this but only just come across this site. My researches show that Sarah Blackwell, baptised 01 Dec 1793, was the eleventh child baptised to John Blackwell and Sarah Rogers. They were both from Burwell and had married there on 25 Feb 1772. Their first child was also Sarah, baptised on 03 Jan 1773.
Sarah #1 (1773) married Robert Bridgeman on 04 Oct 1790 in Burwell. He was son of John and Grace Casburn. They had two children, Sarah, bapt 11 Sep 1791 and Robert bapt 01 Dec 1793. Sarah #1 died around the birth of Robert, and was buried on 11 Sep 1793. Husband Robert remarried Susanna Casburn in Burwell on 11 Mar 1795. As you already know, only one son of theirs survived young adulthood - William.
Robert and Sarah #1's son Robert (1793) married Mary Iverson on 31 Dec 1812. They had six children and after her death in 1833 Robert married Sarah Scott on 21 Oct 1833. It is this Sarah that died in Burwell on 24 Mar 1860 aged 76 (See Maddyr52).
So, John Blackwell and Sarah Rogers were still adding to their family when their first daughter Sarah #1 died. Not unusual then for them to call their late 1793 newborn Sarah too (Sarah #2)
My researches show that Sarah #2 married another Robert Bridgeman in Burwell on 02 Aug 1810. He was son of John Bridgeman and Mary Layton. John, bapt 1768 was elder brother of Robert, bapt 1769.
Hope this is helpful !GFHB
