Berkshire / Chuffs House, Holyport

Hello

not sure if this is the right place to post. We are trying to find out how 2 people in our tree who married in July 1945 met. It all seems shrouded in a bit of mystery. He was a Canterbury lad and was wounded out of the army in Feb 44 at Monte Casino. We have sent off for his military record which we hope will tell us something about what happened to him before he was invalided out. She had been in the Land Army with Sir Robert Black at Midgham. However, her marriage cert has her at Chuffs House and the 1945 Electoral Roll shows her there with Lady Felicity Millais. I don't know how to find if anyone else was there. in 1939 the residents were a retired colonial gentleman and household.
How can I find out what Chuffs was being used for in 1945?
Is there any way of finding out what happened to him after he left the army?
Is there any way of finding out when she left the Land Army? She was pregnant when she married.

Many thanks

Armed Forces / War Record at Airborne Forces Experimental Establishment?
« on: Tuesday 03 November 20 14:29 GMT (UK)  »
I am trying to piece together the wartime experience of a family member and someone linked in with them.
Oliver Logie Lloyd Fitzwilliams was born in Nov 1914 and graduated from Cambridge, Trinity College, in 1936. We have found records which indicate that he worked for the Airborne Forces Experimental Establishment at RAF Sherburn in Elmet in WW2. he had obtained his pilot's certificate whilst still 17.

However, I can find no trace of him in any Forces Records and indeed no trace of him apart from the above from 1936 until the 1960's. Could he have been a civilian? Is that not unlikely? Any clues or comments would be helpful. We have letters from him dated 1943 but other than the fact that he was at the AFEE at that time, there are no details that would help, nor explain why the correspondence suddenly stopped.

Thank you
