Thank you Chris. This location {280 Shooters Hill)) sadly 'matches' with the current google streetview which is a ramped pedestrian footbridge over the main road! Although in the passing decades of course who knows what existed at that point once the business closed. Only a feint hope really, the real possibility of gaining knowledge will stem from contacting any local undertakers who may have retained their day-books.

Thank you, thank you - one and all 3. Looking under the wrong trade! Further research can now proceed now that once again Rootschatters have come to the fore. Keith

I am struggling to find this business listed in online directories -incl 1939 Register. One cornerstone of the memorial kerbs is clearly etched with the name. I've no doubt the business is no longer in existence, probably closed or taken over, but if anyone recognises the name and can assist with any trace of them I would be very grateful. Thank you.

Yes, this is the first and last entry I have for the wife. his death a simple check via FreeBMD which matched his altered DOB by the way.
My image from start was numbered img1001 and 124kb for the record. Does that have any significance?

Bear with this moment of senior(ity). I'll rename and have to upload fresh topic.

As shown in the image; tna_R39_1130_1130G_020 added. 51 Markhouse Road, Walthamstow.
I can follow Thomas E Pells through to death Jun Qtr 1972 Bury St Ed. The ref (Red) has been checked and just identifies when his DOB was corrected. Perhaps at the time he enlisted in the forces?

What is stumping me is the additions to wife Alice Maud's name on one, or more, occasions. If she re-married? that too has me failing to find the right path. Any guidance would be appreciated. Thanks.

Regret months off system I thought I'd uploaded image -don't see it and system says one already exists.

Thank you for your kind reply Arthur - Luckily later this very evening both Leah and I have begun discussions and the path seems favourable that with the information to hand will enable Stanley Gray to earn the recognition his sacrifice deserves.

Leah, tried sending this as personal message at 6.06 pm today sunday 21st. Informed "the inbox "is full". Therefore likely as a new member you don't know how to operate the system. I've explained more in the message below on that point.
So I'm leaving this text open to all to read as I have no other means to contact you, and as said there's no progress possible until you make further access to rootschat. Please bear in mind I am getting on in years right now and may not be available always to assist you.

Was hoping I'd get something back Leah, the case is still "active" as far as my research work is concerned and it was live on site through to my 2nd message which followed my direct personal message at 3.20pm when I noticed your connection (green light) was shining below your entry. If you need further help in respect of dealing with personal messages don't hesitate to go to help item on the top line and look for customer support.
I can't do anything more - such as contact you beyond personal message sent before 3pm. The person who has/buys a copy of the death certificate holds the key which will ensure progress is made once they inform me of the contents. best regards,

Hi again Leah, Forgetting my courtesy welcome to rootschat new members. Hope we proceed to earning your g/grandfather his due recognition.
As your first message has been sent from me - look along the top line where this enquiry is found and 'My messages' requires a click to open the page where you (and only you) can read it.
best wishes.
