Stirlingshire / Redding mine disaster 1923
« on: Monday 01 January 24 10:40 GMT (UK)  »
Could one of the kind Roots administrators please inform me is it possible to gain additional information in relation to the identity of Michael Mclaughlin named as one of the 40 mining workers who lost their lives in the Redding mining disaster in Falkirk September 1923.

My relation namely Michael Mclaughlin from Stranaclea Illies Buncrana Donegal Ireland Born 1861/63 40 in 1901 Irish census and 45 1911 Census and single Died around 1922/24 and I can't find any death records from Inishowen registration district for the stated time period and considering he was single and age around 60/63 the named Michael who lost his life in the Redding disaster for some reason has great interest to me.

If someone would have more success than I in finding his death Ireland around 1922/24 then it might rule out the Michael Mclaughlin from the Redding disaster.

Would appreciate any help or guidance. Regards

Thank you so much for your kind information on William Mcelhinney.

I was provided with information on my query by other Root hat friends but I now can't find for some reason and my apology for this because I would prefer to send personal PM by way of thanks.

The Irish census for 1901(Donegal) with William Mcelhinney around 33/35 year's his wife Ellen 33/34 year's along with their son Daniel born previous year 1900 is one of the very appreciated information given to me which I appear to have mislaid somewhere

Again I am seeking assistance from one of my kind roots friends.

I am seeking two records that I have extensively searched for and cand find.

Hope I can explain clearly for your understanding.

William McElhinney(M) Ellen mc Gonigle 1899 Inishowen registration district Ireland with father of William being Daniel.

I am seeking the birth of this same William around 1860/69 with his father being Daniel and (M) Mary McLaughlin. I learned this from the marriage record of William to Catherine Docherty 2nd marriage for both as Williams's 1st wife died in 1923 (Inishowen reg District).

Also, I am seeking the marriage record for Williams's parents Daniel Mc Elhinney and Mary McLaughlin estimated marriage in 1858/68.

Regards and your interest much appreiated.

I am seeking the arrival in Britain/ireland of Michael kelly (B) 1893

The stated Michael made his only return visit to his Kelly family at Stranaclea Illies Buncrana Co.Donegal on May/June 1951.

I found his return to the USA on passenger records (line 13) departing Liverpool on 7th June 1951 on the "Ascania" with his home address in the United States being 660 27th St Oakland California

I would appreciate it if I could find his arrival to Britain/Ireland during possibly April/May 1951 to visit his stated relatives because to date I have failed to find this passenger record despite my best efforts.

Regards and thanks for your interest
