Many thanks for your continued input... much appreciated!

The date of 'when registered' is in the box and details 12th March 1930 - I only have the certified copy that I got from GRO which is, of course, dated into 2021!

OK... hope it's OK to post the link from FindMyPast on here - please let me know if I need to delete this:

Esther is definitely shown as Ivens and the date of registration is 12th March 1930 which would be some six weeks after the birth on 31st Jan 1930

Sorry - can't seem to upload a copy of the birth certificate!

Place of birth was the Chiswick and Ealing Maternity Hospital

Thank you - yes, it was Esther who registered the birth.

The 'c' and the 'e' of Archer are quite distinct and tie in with the same letters used elsewhere on the birth certificate - I've also tried searching for F* (in case he appears as Frank in any documents), with no middle name and also using an initial instead of the middle name.

Esther is clearly an Ivens in the 1911 Census and I would have thought 45 was 'old' for a first time mother in 1930.  Pending the release of the 1921 Census, I can only go on electoral roll information which seems to be somewhat sketchy although there is a 1932 entry with the page heading 'no longer entitled qualified as Electors' - would this mean she'd moved at that point?

Debt Collector (Agency) with the address also listed as being at 63 College Court, Hammersmith

The birth was registered six weeks or so after the birth on 19th March 1930

I'm hoping that someone might shed some light on this as I have hit a complete brick wall around 1930.

My Mother was born 31st Jan 1930 as Margery Frances Wray - her Mother was born Esther Ivens, born in 1884 in Gibraltar as a twin to Beatrice making my Grandmother 45-46 at the time of Mum's birth.

It was always described that Mum's Father had died "when she was very young" with the suggestion that she'd never really known him and he was never discussed - my Grandmother (and Mum) appears in Cornwall in the 1939 records with Esther detailed as a Widow which ties in with my knowledge of Mum's life during WW2.

The conundrum revolves around Frederick...

My scant knowledge from the few comments that I'd had whilst growing up suggested he was known as Frank and was Irish.  Mum's birth certificate details her Father as being Frederick Archer Wray and Esther as being 'Wray, formerly Ivens'

So far, so good - I cannot find any marriage certificate for Wray / Ivens, nor can I find any reference to a death certificate for Wray... having assumed he was around for the conception (I know...) this would suggest death some time in Q2-4 of 1929 and, being a widow in 1939, I've used a search criteria of date of death of 1934 plus/minus five years.

Archer is an unusual middle name - I've searched using wildcards for both names but had no joy.

Esther appears on the Electoral Roll in 1930 and 1931 for 63 College Court and then in 1932 at 296 Goldhawk Road

Can anyone shed some light on this... or where I need to look to find more information myself?  Would records have been lost in the war...?

Thank you!
