Aberdeenshire / Re: JAMES BROWN of Greenbank & Pitblae in FRASERBURGH late 1700s

I wrote a bit ago that I have another Alexander Brown that seems to match. However, I have now discovered that "my" Alexander Brown is "Alexander George Brown", born in Fraserburgh 1787 to Alexander Brown. Sorry I didn't catch this before writing -- have been working on this for some time, but missed his use of George as a middle name.

Hi. I just saw this while researching what appears to be a different Alexander Brown with the same birth date and place of birth. My Alexander Brown was a gardener who married Helen Dickson in Edinburgh in 1808. His is listed in the 1851 Scotland census in Auchterarder, Perthshire with a birth place of Fraserburgh, Aberdeenshire, and an age of 62.

So I was following your same logic to conclude that the Alexander Brown in my tree has father James Brown and those same siblings that you identified.

Not sure what to say about this!! I suppose there could be two Alexander Browns born about the same time in Fraserburgh? Like you, I found only one baptism record that might be appropriate, but now it seems cloudy as to which of them has James as a father...
