Merionethshire Lookup Requests / Richard Griffith Burial Cowarch
« on: Friday 05 July 13 05:57 BST (UK)  »
I'm still researching my 4x great grandfather but have some new info.  I do not know where Richard Griffith was born nor to whom but he did marry a Jane Jones (dau. of John Richard William) on 05 May 1781 in Mallwyd. Jane was chr. 26 May 1759 in Mallwyd. She had 2 sisters Mary Jones chr.. 1761 and Margaret Jones chr. 1765

There is a burial of a Richard Griffith of Cowarch, Llanymawddwy Jan. 6, 1819 age 64 which possibly could be the right one. Where would be the best place for me to search for more info.  As far as I know his wife, Jane died 1804 in Llanymawddwy.

Any help or suggestions would be most appreciated and I thank you in advance.

I have info that a John Griffiths, labourer was on the 1841-1861 Census living at Plaseau, Bala with wife Margaret and sons Griffith & Richard. John used the surname Richard when married to Margaret William at Llanuwchllyn in 1810 and births of sons Griffith & Richard in 1811 at  Capel y Parc, Bala.
On the 1851 Census John was a widower 62, Laborer b. in Llanymawddwy
I believe John was born to Richard Griffith & Jane at Deunant, Llanymawddwy about 1788.
I have found a couple of possible deaths in 1862 and 1865 for John.
If anybody is searching this family, I would be most interested to get in touch with them.
Thank you,
Johanson

Thank you Wilcox for that info. I do have those wills.
Another family member, Mary Thomas daughter of Gwen Griffith & Thomas Owen B. 1748 D. 1819 age 70 married Job Miles in 1822. Job died 1844. Job was first married to Elizabeth Jones in 1797.
Gwen was dau. of Mary Richard & Griffith Jones. Mary Richard who married Edward Miles was dau. of Richard Griffith & Jane Jones. Richard Griffith was son of Mary Richard & Griffith Jones

I am looking for info on this family. Mary Richard m. Edward Miles in 1816 and had a daughter Jane b. Aug. 1820. Twin daughters Mary & Margaret Miles were born July 25, 1822, Christened July 26, 1822 and apparently died shortly after. They were living at Ty'n Y Wern and the babies are buried in llanymawddwy.
Any info on the family would be most appreciated.
I thank you in advance for your help.

Thanks David - Richard Griffith is proving to be one elusive person - and what makes it worse there is another Richard Griffith born around the same time at Troedyrhiw, Llanymawddwy.

Will keep digging and thanks again,

Osprey - I missed your message previous and thank you so much. Unfortunately "my" Richard Griffith's wife's name was Jane and my research so far, shows that Jane died in 1804 (but I could be wrong).

Thanks again,

Johanson

Merionethshire Lookup Requests / Llanenddwyn parish Records

I was at our local LDS Church yesterday and found on the Llanenddwyn Parish Records the following - Burial 13 March 1805 - Richard Griffith (no age).
There was also a word which nobody could decipher -   Hendic....od
If anybody has access to these records, I would appreciate it if they could figure this out for me. It is possible that this is the burial of 4x greatgrandfather Richard Griffith who was born in Llanymawddwy in 1750.

Thanks,
Johanson
