Did they wed in Scotland, since Alice seesm to be Scottish?

Thanks for the reply. In answer to your question re being married in Scotland, I really have no idea.

There is a will of a William Dryden of Belford, proved 15 Oct 1817
Any help with anything?
Wife Isabella
Sons Stephen and John
Daughters Ann and Mary

William Dryden buried 7 Sep 1817, Belford, age 50
Isabella Dryden buried 7 Nov 1817, Belford, age 50 :(

I am almost 100% positive these are John's parents. I have 4 strong DNA links to the descendants of Stephen Dryden mentioned in the Will.

Find-a-grave is all user-submitted, so at best a guide.

1841 CLEARLY states Scotland.

That and the absence of a maiden name for Alice wouldn't inspire my confidence

Very much my thoughts too. I hate not being able to trace both sides as the Maternal is as important as the paternal in making me who I am. Alice has been one of my Brickwalls for many years.

Thank you to everyone who has replied. It is very much appreciated. I still live in hope

Hi All

I have been stuck for quite some time on my Dryden Family from Belford, Northumberland. I suspect they are nonconformists. I was lucky recently after having my father do a DNA to finally crack John Dryden b1794 and have now found his parents (at least it seems right and I am DNA linked to at least 2 of his brothers) , although still haven't found a birth or baptism. However, it is John's wife Alice who is the most frustrating. I would just love to be able to have her maiden name to be able to track the line back further.

John and Alice had 4 children that I know of; Isabella bc1814 (my 4 x Gt Grandmother), Elizabeth bc1817, Alice bc1820 and Matilda bc1823.  My assumption is that John & Alice must have married around C1813.

Can anyone help finding their marriage, or the baptism of any of the children. Thanks

I think early 50's.
My thinking to Jim. So would either mean they are really unfashionable, or more likely only have 1 good outfit that had to last. Or its not them.

Thanks Guys

If they are the people I think they are, they would be my 3 x Gt Grandparents James & Caroline Wharton (nee Watson). Not overly positive though as James was born 1849 and Caroline 1852. Even taking into consideration that my area was a little out of fashion and pushing the dates closer to 1900 I am still not sure. Your thoughts on age etc. would be appreciated.

Regards
Brian

Hi Folks

I have had a copy of this photo for a while and think I have now figured out who it is. I just need a rough date to confirm. Any help would be gratefully appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Hi All

I have been given a picture of four soldiers, two I recognize as British but not the other two. I am trying to find out who is who in the picture any help in regiments, countries, etc.. would be truly appreciated. Sorry about the image quality but that's what I have.

Thanks all in advance
