Phil,

Yes thanks for getting in touch. I am still in the same position - keen to find out more about the Blakeboroughs and particularly Jonathan - it seems there was a bit of a dynasty of family watch or clockmaking. I am not at all clear how the watch came into my family's posession - or when. One half of my family came from the Yorkshire Dales - Harrogate way so there is a geographic proximity perhaps. If you have any more about the watch/clockmaking ancestry of your family it would be fantastic. I have no idea how much the watch is worth - for insurance purposes do you have any idea what I should be looking at?

Thanks, Graham

I have been sorting through my (late) fathers bits and pieces and have found that he had a silver pocket watch which is engraved Jon Blakeborough which I think is Jonathan, and is numbered 652. The internal detail is very impressive. I am looking for more information about the watch and its history. Would be very appreciative of any help. Looking at the census return - I can see Jonathan B was born about 1810 so I think the watch is probably from around 1830-1850. The case is hallmarked silver.

All help greatfully received. For those who are related to Blakeborough I would be happy to share something of your ancesters great skill as a watchmaker.
