Hi John - That's a shame. I had the Kirkheaton site listed on the One Place Studies website at http://www.one-place-studies.org/ and would love to get in touch with the person who ran it to see if we can help him out in any way. Would you be able to let him know? He can contact me through my website (either the main OPS site or the one in my profile).

Regards

Thanks for posting these Matt, I'm always keen to hear of Wing people marrying in other parishes.

Thing  is, in 1891 this lad is here:
High Street, Wing
RG12 /  Piece: 1266 /  Folio 7 /  Page 7
Head: Phillip S (J? I?)\)  PITCHFORD, 60, Agricultural Labourer, b Wing
Wife: Mary PITCHFORD 66, b Wing
Dau: Ann Elizabeth PITCHFORD 25,  married, Visitor, b Wing
Grandson: James Winfred  PITCHFORD 7, b Wing

A correction to this, the actual scan has married daughter Ann Elizabeth's surname as BUNYAN rather than PITCHFORD.

I don't have anything else on hand to help you out though Normsy.

Regards Alex (of the Wing One Place Study website).

Hi everyone - I am the person behind the Wing One Place Study website you all have such kind words about. I know that Fred has already been in touch with me, but if any of you haven't been in touch and let me know who your families are in Wing then please do so, I'd love to hear from you and may even have further information for you as copyright restrictions mean I can't put everything online! I have STEVENS from Wing in my line too, but c.1800.

I'm squirrelling away all the pieces of information I can get as to who worked for the Rothschilds at Ascott and in what capacity - eventually this will make it on to the website - so I'd particularly like to hear more about those chauffeurs and the like! My ancestor allegedly worked with the polo ponies after WW1 but I haven't found evidence as yet that they even had polo at Ascott.....

She was baptised in the Primitive Methodist chapel rather than in All Saints Church on 14 Mar 1846.

Hi Pete - is it okay if I add a link to your Culverhouse database from my website (the Wing One Place Study)?

Buckinghamshire Lookup Requests / Re: 1861 Census Lookup - Thomas Youers
« on: Friday 02 March 07 20:23 GMT (UK)  »
There's a 2-year-old Thomas Youens in Chepping Wycombe (RG9 piece 856  folio 95  pg 40&41) - however his parents are Richard and Rebecca (siblings are James, Sarah, Richard and William). Does this sound likely?

There's also a Robert and Ellen Youens in Chepping Wycombe, but I can't find Thomas and Ellen in Bucks.

That's my site, by the way  ;D - glad people are finding it useful!

The siblings are:

Katharine dau of Daniel & Susanna Monk baptised 25 Mar 1773
Sarah who you have
Ann dau of Daniel & Susanna Monk baptised 13 Jun 1779
Daniel son of Daniel & Susanna Monk baptised 21 Sep 1781
Susanna dau of Daniel & Susanna Monk born 13 Aug baptised 14 Aug 1785 buried 29 Nov 1786 aged 9 months

then: Daniel Monk age 57 buried 23 Oct 1799

Incidentally while poking round on the Bedfordshire board after I posted my last message there was something there about GASKIN in Heath & Reach, so my hunch about Henry coming from there might have been correct!

Hi Jenny

A couple more snippets of information for you but nothing earth-shattering:

The banns for this couple were read 27 Aug, 3 Sep and 10 Sep 1797 and in the banns record they are both listed as otp.

If you are tracing Sarah's line back I can give you her siblings. There's also a Joseph and Sarah Monk having children in Wing back in the 1730s who then moved to Heath & Reach, Beds (although Joseph and Sarah were both ultimately buried in Wing). There may well be a connection between the earlier Monks and your Monks, so might be worth looking there - perhaps even Henry Gaskins will turn out to have come from there?

Alex
