Census Lookup and Resource Requests / Re: Sarah Jane Rixson in 1901

I've had this predicament before.

It turned out that the "missing" person was staying with her sister on the night of the Census. This of course is the critical problem - the Census lists the people present in the dwelling on the night of the Census, not the family. Hence you get visitors and in-laws etc listed.

Kent Completed Lookup Requests / Re: Where is Deptford

Deptford is some way from Maidstone! It's SE London, to the NW of Lewisham, West of Greenwich, near New Cross.
True the A20 runs very close, but a long haul if relying on horse and cart.

Hi Andrew,

I don't now if there's a connection, but I have a Doris Louise Gothard in my tree. She was born 6th July 1925 in London and died 27th March 1991 in Chelmsford. She married Frederick James Rogers in Cheam, Surrey in 1943.

Hmm impossible to know unfortunately.

I believe his mother's surname was Mayes, as this (apparently) was his middle name.
I will keep looking!

Thanks

Hi everyone,

Just thought I'd say hello, and to ask if any of you have any know connections to the Martin family from Ashen. I am trying to find out where my branch originally came from, but as yet I havn't made it to the records office.

My GGG Grandfather was John Martin (!) born c 1803. I have no sibling info, and I would love to know more.

Regards

Jeff
