I know this is an old post but came across it while googling Lambuletham while researching my Brown ancestors.. my father's maternal side.
I have Andrew Brown who married Elizabeth H ? as the brother of my 3 x great grandfather Peter Brown b. 1802 in Kilconquhar. I have their daughter Janet marrying John Walton, his parents as John Walton and Elizabeth Rollo.
As I have Waltons on my father's paternal side checked my tree and lo and behold -
John Walton snr b. 1809 in Dairsie was the son of Robert Walton who was the brother of my 3 x great grandmother Euphemia Walton who's son Robert Kirkcaldy (my 2 x great grandfather) was his cousin!  Small world indeed.
Incidentally on my GR tree I have the source of my info on John Walton and Elizabeth Rollo as Mundell ! :)

Thanks for all that super info.....checked SP for Mary Geekie and John Baxter and they were married in Dundee in 1847 and she was indeed the daughter of Helen.
Helen's birthplace on the census shows she was born in Perthshire but the district is hard to read.
Also checked for the marriage of son John Geekie to Helen Young and they were married in Dundee in 1875 she was the widow of David Young, her maiden name Christie.
It shows John as the widower of Margaret Clark and Ann Storrier.
The 1851 entry for Helen, Alex and Mary seems to fit in with the address in Perth Road, but the counties of birth for each is a bit puzzling.  Helen was Perthshire born, and Alex in Ceres Fife seems a bit odd. Also Mary....seems from her age given on various census returns and her death certificate she was born in  c1825 in Abernyte but I can't find her birth on OPR, though there was a birth for a Mary Geekie in 1814 at Cargill to John Geekie and Helen Mill.  I would think that this Mary died in childhood.
Well that's a puzzle for another day, but a big thank you once again for setting me on the right tracks and finding out that John married 3 times was a bonus
Kind Regards

Angus (Forfarshire) / HELEN GEEKIE nee Mill, why can't I find you on the 1861 census?
« on: Thursday 14 September 17 17:26 BST (UK)  »
Hi guys
Hit the brick wall big time!
Can find no trace of HELEN GEEKIE on the 1861 census in Dundee. ???
She died at Perth Road Dundee in 1867 'widow of John Geekie, ploughman and daughter of William Mill joiner, and Janet Millar who were married at Longforgan in 1781.
The last census record I could find for John Geekie and and Helen Mill was 1841 at Step Row Dundee. John died about 1845.
Can find no entry in 1851 for Helen or her son John Geekie born 1827 but know they must be in Dundee as John married Ann Storrier in 1856 and his address then is Perth Road Dundee
Where have they been hiding?
Any help would be most appreciated

Aberdeenshire / Re: DUNCAN THOMSON, what is his wife's second name?
« on: Thursday 07 September 17 12:50 BST (UK)  »
Hi Guys
Thank you all so much for your help in solving the puzzle of Duncan's wife's maiden name of Cobban/Cobbon, and especially their date and place of marriage in 1815.  A real bonus as I was completely stuck due to the fact that her maiden name was left blank on their daughter Elizabeth's death certificate.
It opens up so many channels for me to research now, so once again thank you all.
Regards

Aberdeenshire / DUNCAN THOMSON, what is his wife's second name?
« on: Wednesday 06 September 17 16:56 BST (UK)  »
Hi Guys
Struggling to find the maiden name of Duncan's wife.

His daughter Elizabeth's death certificate from 1880 shows only her mother's first name Elizabeth.
1841 shows the family at Ledside Old Machar -
Duncan Thomson 60
Elizabeth   50
Elizabeth 25 wool spinner
Peter     20 linen weaver
Ann       20  wool spinner
Jean      15  wool spinner
Alex      15 gardeners apprentice
and granddaughter Mary Smith 5.

1851 shows the family at 59 Huntly Street Old Machar
Duncan Thomson 74 born Midmar
Ann                    29     "   Aberdeen
Jane                   20               "
Mary Smith          13              "         granddaughter
Elizabeth Boyd       7              "         granddaughter

I think this is Duncan's birth and parents  -  26th November 1777 Midmar to Peter Thomson and Anne Ingram.
I've tried to find Duncan's death in OPR and Statutory Deaths to no avail.  Also can find no trace on OPR of his childrens' births which would have hopefully given their mother's surname.
Can anyone point me in the right direction?
Regards Jen

Dublin / Re: Patrick Long or Laing
« on: Saturday 05 August 17 16:38 BST (UK)  »
Hi there, nice to hear from you.
Looks like it's the same family.  I researched the tree for my son-in- law Graham Laing and I have my notes somewhere so will look them out to share with you....i've records for the Hopper/McGowan/McQueen connection too.
Lochee is a district in Dundee City, where the family raised their families...and where the descendants still live.
Will get back to you on this
Kind Regards

Roxburghshire / Re: Agnes LILLICO, when did she die?
« on: Wednesday 31 May 17 12:02 BST (UK)  »
Like you I have the parents of George Smail from his death certificate of 1883 in Galashiels as Robert Smail (master blacksmith) and Helen Kerr.
Can't find a marriage for them though.
1841 and 1851 census show George and his first wife Agnes Lillico at Cavers.
Their children were JOHN b. 1835, Roxburgh, MARGARET 1837 Eckford, GEORGE 1839 Caver. TOM 1845 Roxburgh and JANE 1848 Caver
I have sons GEORGE (1839) and TOM (1845) both blacksmiths and both moving south to England where George had 7 children in Kent and Tom had 12.
Likewise I have their brother John (1835) possibly moving to Canada and dying in Saskatchewan in 1919.
1861 census Denholm Cavers shows George aged 50 and his second wife Helen Turnbull aged 30 with children Robert 5, James 4, and Mary 2.  They later had Alex 1861, Archie 1863, Helen 1864 and Andrew 1866.
Have been stuck on Agnes Lillico, though Monica might have pointed us in the right direction with her possible parents being William Lillico and Margaret Nicholl.
Cheers
Jen

Hi Tom
I will need to have a wee look into my research on the family.  The connection is through my daughter's partner Graham Laing who is a descendant of the Smail family.  He asked me to trace his tree a while back as I have been able to get my own family tree back through many generations, all mostly Scottish.  I have never been on Ancestry....mainly Genes Reunited and Scotlandspeople.....will be in touch when I manage to find the details.
Cheers from Scotland
