Canada / Re: Gustaf Erik GYLLING and wife Fanny Louise, Laval, Quebec
« on: Thursday 09 August 12 06:07 BST (UK)  »
Hi,

I found these records:-
Gustaf (age 34) and Fanny (age 27), arrrived in Boston from Stockholm on the S.S. Gothenburg, 5 Aug 1884. He said he was Swedish. They travelled 1st Class and said their destination was Canada.

They had a trip to England in 1909 on the Ottawa from Montreal to Liverpool. Then they returned to Canada.

After that, Dec 1911, they arrived in London on the Corinthian from Montreal. They said they were going to London as tourists.

Hope this is what you were looking for.

I don't know yet, Steve but I'm getting the same problem.
I think MS Update is to blame.

Hi, definitely Royal Navy. I can see HMS on the hat bands but I can't make out the ships name.

Hi Wendy,

No problem. I get mixed up myself sometimes ;D

As you've explained the mix up in your latest posts, I would leave your original post as is.

Happy hunting!

Hi Wendy, welcome to RootsChat.

Just to confirm we are talking about the same family ...

Your great great grandfather was Jonathan William Durrant, born 1846, in London, who sailed on the Coromandel to Australia in 1854 with his father, Jonathan Durrant (1817-1902), his stepmother Caroline nee Archer (1816-1897) and his sister, Sarah Elizabeth (1851-1913).
He married Margaret Elizabeth Murdoch,1870 in South Australia.

Jonathan William's mother was Sarah Anne Judd, born 1825, died 2 Feb 1852 age 26. Following the death of his mother, his father remarried Caroline Archer 3 Oct 1852.

Sarah Norris was Jonathan William's grandmother. She married John Durrant,1807 in Hemel Hempstead.

So where and when did Matthew Jones look after whose children?
