Could anyone tell me were I could get a copy of the report that I believe appeared in the Westmorland Gazette regarding the opening ceremony for Brandelhow Park.

I've looked at the Westmorland & Cumberland Gazette's web sites also at Cumbria County Council's Archive website and I've been unable to find a copy of it anywhere.

Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.

Many Thanks

Nigel

Northumberland Lookup Requests / Baptism - Walmsley
« on: Friday 08 May 09 14:48 BST (UK)  »
Hello All,

I hope someone can be of assistance, I've just discovered that my Gt G-dad was born in Chirton, in the county of Northumberland. Unfortunately I'm unsure where to look for his baptism.

I have got his birth certificate which states;

James Hamer Walmsley, b21 July 1874 at Prudhoe Street, Chirton, Father Lawrence Walmsley, Mother Sally Walmsley, Occupation of Father School Master, Birth registered 29 August 1874.

if anyone could give me any clues as to which church or churches he may have been baptized at I'd appreciate it.

Many Thanks

Nigel

Merjones,

Many many thanks for all that information. I'll just have to show it to my father-in-law, he'll be very surprised.

Good evening to all,

Hope some one can assist me, I've just found outthat some ancestors from my wife's side emigrated to the US.

I've been on the Ellis Island site and 'found them' on the documents from the site it looks like James William, Louisa, and children Alice and William are going to somewhere that looks like Jerre Hause Ind.

I'm assuming the 'Ind' equate to Indiana, if it does I can't find a Jerre Hause!

Any clues gratefully received.

Many Thanks

Lancashire / Re: Surname Marriage

Bri,

I believe it would depend on whether you were looking at the B, M or D. If B then it would be her maiden name. If at M and before her marriage to you then her married name at that time.
