Now I have one last guestion about this subject and then I will shut up and go away and leave you in peace.

Where (online) would I go to find out if this child's name was ever legally changed to Stimpson as a last name?  Would Howard, if he was the father, have to adopt the child to change the last name to his?  Or would the child's last name be automatically changed when the parents married?

Thanks again

As I said before the people on this site are awesome.  I have never posted anything that I didn't get an answer to.  I don't know how you do it.  I never seem to be able to find this stuff.  Keep up the good work.

And if you ever need anything looked up in Washington State, USA please do not hesitate to ask.

Now the question is

Who is Alice Pimbley granddaughter the daughter of ...since every one in the household is listed as single?  LOL  That is going to be fun to unscramble.  I don't suppose there is much of a chance of finding out who her father is?

thanks again

you guys are the greatest.  I can always count on you.  Thanks ever so much from the bottom of my heart.

Now if I can just prove that my grand uncle Howard Fowler Stimson did indeed marry Elizabeth E. Pimbley all my problems will be solved.  Found the marriage registration but guess I will have to send for the actual certificate as the registration info states two possible brides.

Thanks again

a Robert Wallbridge was born on 18 April 1817, son of Joseph and Mary
Wallbridge of Newport and Baptised on 15 June 1817 at St James Street
Independent Chapel, Newport.

Additionally a  Robert Walbridge of Newport was buried on 27 January 1824 age 6,  -- No info as to when this one was born or WHERE or who his parents were.

I am trying to prove that they were NOT one and the same as my great grandfather was a Robert WALLBRIDGE reported to have been born on the IOW in the time period 1817-1821 who later immigrated to Ontario, Canada and the first Robert was the only birth that we can find a record of as having been born during this time period.

Can any help me prove or disprove that the first Robert mentioned lived to adulthood?  My Robert married in 1839 in Canada so he would have had to have immigrated sometime between 1817 -  1838.

Thanking you for any assistance you can render.

Sincerely

Judi (Wallbridge) McRae

Census and Resource Discussion / Re: "World Vital Records"
« on: Monday 05 May 08 00:06 BST (UK)  »
I decided to give it another try, with my ten most unusual names, including some in Canada and the USA.   Not one was found ... and even Winston Spencer Churchill (heard of him ?) wasn't found either.

Not a site for me ...

Let me explain something.  The World Vital Records that you can log onto without membership is US only so you would not find Churchill on there because he is from the UK.  In order to get something about him (or someone from Canada etc) you would have to be subscribed to the International Edition of WVR which I am.  I searched Winston Churchill and came up with 248 hits (quite a bit of info).  so I suggest if anyone is having trouble finding the persons they are looking for that you subscribe to both the US and International Records.  I will do a limited number of lookups for people but of course it would be after I get my own research completed for the day.

OH I must have the wrong idea then... I thought that each area had a mini version of GRO where researchers could go and look up the GRO records pertaining to their areas and be able to therefore report the details of that record.

No I wasn't necessarily asking that you do it.. just that someone who is close to the London record office would perhaps be willing.

I thought perhaps they married in London while on a vacation there but of course I have no idea.
