Hello Kojak,

All these years under the bridge and I have just seen your reply regarding the 1841 census at Hightae.. I'm afraid I am no further on with the speculation that the couple turned up at the Worcestershire Iron works area around 1800. I believe William was a blacksmith when he married and the Midlands Iron and coal and canal industry had taken off? Who knows. Thank you again for your steer.

I have a young boy Charles Richardson aged 18 ( he was in fact 16) in the Newsboy Home Liverpool on the 1891 census. It gives all inmates and staff.

Hello,

Yes apparently no father on the birth cert then. I wonder if she eventually married the father? ( Colin Butcher).

I digress. I wondered if it was Albert Frank Butcher  who settled in the Channel Islands? Not his parents!

Thank you

Hello,

I seem to have my wires crossed through information coming in. I have no idea when Colin was born. Presumably they were of a similar age ( dangerous presumption!) Their son ALBERT FRANK was born on 5th Nov 1919. It was he who joined the army in 1939 not his father as previously stated.

Thank you

Hello

Yes that is their marriage. I believe Colin Butcher joined the army and was in the 2nd WW but can find no trace of him. His post war family seem to be Channel Island based; perhaps even before 1939? I have no way of knowing.

Thank you

Hello,

I wonder if anyone out there has information on a BUTCHER family?

The head of the family was COLIN   his wife EMILY BEATRICE.

I believe they originated in Devon but I am told ran a hotel after WW2.

Any information much appreciated

Many thanks. I will try and get over there; if that is not possible I will do as you suggest.
Much appreciated

I have found references to Poor Law Records for Lower Mitton

They are in the form of Family History Library Catalogue Film Numbers

How does one tranlate these film numbers into references that will find the

original documents at the Worcester County Hall Record Office.

The only number I can find on the film notes is RG 4 3281.  This does not seem to
be recognised.

Thanks in advance for any leads on this.

Hello,

I wonder if I could firstly take up the offer of an 1841 lookup for lochmaben?

I believe that a william richardson of hightae married a mary birney at gretna in 1796.
I wonder if anyone knows if there were any children for this marriage, and if the family appears on the 1841 census for that area.

Thanks in anticipation
