Hi - many thanks for all your replies. I do have all the census entries for James, I was looking to see if he moved from Rutland to Cumbria because of the connection with the hunt (the Lonsdales of Lowther rode with the Cottesmore Hunt). I have dropped the record office a line to see if they have anything.

Hi - does anyone know of any staff lists for Lowther Castle for the mid 19th century. I am looking for a any mention of James Sneath born 1818 in Rutland and possibly at the South Castle Inn, Lowther by 1861. He could have worked for the Duke of Rutland at Belvoir Castle before moving to Westmoreland.

Hi - I have details from IGI of the christening of Richard Scott in Giggleswick 12 MAR 1820. Hi s mother is recorded as Judith. Does anyone have the resources to lookup who his father may have been or details of a marriage between him and Judith.

Please would someone be able to do a lookup for me for the family of Hand. I have christening details for James Hand for 29 APR 1827. His brother George was born, I think, the following year and it's possible that their parents George and Mary Ann (no surname as yet) were married in the same church in the preceding few years.

I would be really grateful if someone could check to see if there are details for George jnrs christening and the possible marriage of George snr and Mary Ann.
