Hi

Does anyone know the name of the gentleman who lived at 11 Portman Street, Marylebone between 1901-1911.  I knw his surname was Marriott.  His wife was my gt-gt-gt aunt and her name was Alice b. 1858 at Prinsted, Sussex.  Her surname before marriage was Watkins.  Alice was widowed by ?Marriott before the 1911 census.  Alice's maiden name was Twine.

Hi

I have just read your post and also your article in Valleydiary re the Norrell interest in your family.  I know I am a bit late in responding, but better late than never.  I too am descended from Norrell's.  Stephen Pannell Norrell was my Gt-gt grandmother, Eliza Norrell's, brother.  Eliza married Henry Whitney a woodturner from East Dean.  Needless to say nothing has come down the family regarding the gem of Stephen eloping with a married lady.  ;D  A lot of my family still live in Sussex, especially around Westbourne and Southbourne.

Hi Fiona

I visited Fodderty at the weekend and managed to get 2 out of 3 photos for you.  Fodderty churchyard is not numbered sequentially so it made it difficult to locate all your request.  Let me know where I can send the photos.

Hi CaroleW

I am looking for information post 1917.  I have fully researched up till the family's move from Sussex up to London between 1891-1901, and have now started researching what happened to them after that.

Does anyone have any information on a Hastings Langley who married a Kathleen/Amy Colville in Lambeth in the June quarter of 1917?  Hastings' family originated from Westbourne in West Sussex.  His parents were Charles Abraham & Ada (nee Bailey) Langley.  They lived in Tooting.

I am looking for police records for the county of Nairn / Moray regarding a certain James FINLAY who reputedly fathered my gt gt grandfather John FINLAY (b.1869) @ Auldearn.

Does anyone know how to get hold of these records?

Thanx in advance.

Hi Arranroots :)

I see that you are interested in the Bethune/Beaton line on the Heights.  My Gt x 4 grandfather James Wemyss (1777-c.1854) married Helen Bethune (a.k.a. Alice/Elsie Beaton) (1788-c.1850).  Any connection to you?

Hi :)

I am new to this sight and just seen this post.

I have ancestors who lived at Dochpollo on the Hights between Strathpeffer and Dingwall in the late 1700's.  Their name is Wemyss.  I think this name was discarded when Brae was taken up.  Although in the parish records the name was still being used in 1800.
