Surrey Lookup Requests / Re: George and Mary Yeowell
« on: Friday 26 February 16 15:01 GMT (UK)  »
Jo,
Thank you for your time and effort looking at this for me.
I have James Yeowell born Chertsey 1800 married Mary Ann Webb 1828 St Giles Holborn. He died 1838 and in his obituary it says he was a waiter. He has various occupations shown on his children's birth records though including, gardener, victualler and servant.
Our Yeowells all seem to be from Chertsey or moving on to London.
Thanks for finding the burial of George Garrett Yeowell aged 0. I was unable to find any trace of him so this would explain it. So that discounts the idea that he may be James's father, thanks.
I am going to investigate Ciderdrinker's suggestion that his mother may actually be Sarah and not Mary as indicated in the record shown.
Thanks again
Ann

Hello Ciderdrinker,
Thank you for looking at this for me.Yes, I have seen George and Sarah and children. I did sort of half wonder if the Mary could have been a mistake. She can't be another wife as her child, James, is in the middle of the other children listed to Sarah as you say. So, yes I do think it's worth considering again. Thank you.

Hello Carole,
Thanks for replying. I know that the marriage certs do not show much more than you already know, unless you are lucky and the witnesses names mean something! I was really just hoping to confirm that George Garrett Yeowell actually married a Mary. Just a shot in the dark! But thank you.

Surrey Lookup Requests / George and Mary Yeowell
« on: Thursday 25 February 16 19:08 GMT (UK)  »
Hello,
I would be grateful if anyone could look up a marriage in Chertsey for me please. I am trying to find the parents of James Yeowell born 1801 Chertsey. There is one listing for a George and Mary. I have a George Garrett Yeowell born 1782 but can't find a marriage for him and am wondering if there is a marriage listed anywhere for about 1800, hopefully to a Mary! Be nice to eliminate or perhaps confirm him as the father of James. James Yeowell died in 1838 so I can't look on the censuses.
Thanks for looking.

Thank you Gadget and Ron for your prompt replies!
We have been given just two boxes of slides and have no others so don't really want to buy anything new unless we have to.
Yes, we have photographed them with a digital camera up against a window.( Don't have a projector).
That is quite succcesful but not very clear.

Has anyone managed to scan slides and get photos from them without buying specialist equipment? Maybe using Picassa or other similar program.
Thanks

Rutland Lookup Requests / Re: Look up please Empingham, Francis Cooper

Thank you Sarenid for all your efforts.
Plenty here for me to work on!
I also found that Burial record of Elizabeth wife of Francis 1811. Perhaps he had a third marriage, or I wondered if she could have been Mary Elizabeth although its not recorded.
Regards
Ann
