What a treasure!!!  You are so fortunate to have that picture.  My grandfather and his brother were in Chorlton I'm guessing between 1900-1907 but neither are in that picture--DARN!!!  that is likely a picture of boys in a single cottage.    When I wrote to Barnardo's I was fortunate to receive pictures of each of them---the pictures were cut out from a picture of a grouping of boys similar to the one which you put up.  I would like to have had the whole picture but was quite happy to receive the cut outs.... thanks for putting that picture up--- they do look like such angels, don't they...

Lancashire Lookup Requests / Layfield Birth lookup, Lancashire
« on: Sunday 24 February 08 02:54 GMT (UK)  »
I did a search on Ancestry.com the other night -- Free BMD, 1837-1983 and came up with the birth of a Charles Allan Layfield, b. 1898, Jan/Feb/Mar Qtr, in West Derby, Lancashire.. the reference given was vol 8b, pg 508.  I need to figure out who the parents of Charles Allan Layfield were, and any other information that might be available in the record.   Thanks in advance for any assistance you can provide....

I am trying to figure out who/what was at the 1 Pomona Street Address in Mount Pleasant in October 1886.

When my great grandmother was registering a death of one of her children, she gave this address as the place of death of the child and also as the *residence of informant.*   Prior to, and following the death , her address was at a different location, so I'm assuming that 1 Pomona Street may have been a hospital or some sort of health clinic where they may have been staying.  I have located some Pomona Street addresses, but it seems like Pomona Street was a business district

Can anyone help me out with this.

Thank you.... gail

Sorry, I'm not ignoring you... my service has been down for the past 5 days... thanks to all of you already for posting the photos.. I'm still trying to figure how to get to the 300 dpi.... I have one of those all-in-one machines (printer/scanner/copier)-- just got it, so I'm still trying to figure out how it works...  Will get back to you again if I'm successful at getting to the 300 dpi.... thanks... gail

Oh, MY GOD....... Does it get any better than this!!!  I'm just so high right now, that there will be NO sleeping for me tonight!!!  My mind is racing.... I got an email from CousinConnect where I left a message the night before last-- and lo and behold, there was Sylvia!!!   I just got through replying to the message, and my first thought was to sign  in and let all you guys know what had happened----and YOU ALREADY KNEW!!!

I saw a notice somewhere where they were doing a documentary on BHC's and people's quest to find about their relatives--- they were looking for people to tell their story--- I'm feeling right now like I should contact them!!!

This is just too amazing.    Tooooo amazing!!!  :o :o :o
