Is there any information about where Arthur was born?  Is there any possibility of further information on these people from the UK that would give parents' names or a more exact date or place of birth?

I do know Arthur was born in the UK. Gillingham, Kent to be precise. Unfortunately nothing in the 1911 UK census except for Pennsylvania so it's a bit of a needle in a haystack.

Cheers,
 Graeme

On my wife's side of the family there's lots of talk of a great grandmother being Cherokee.   Her English husband met and married her in PA and had a child prior to returning to the UK.

I've located them on the 1911 census but am unsure how to get back in to the US records. They seem rather patchy in the usual places I've looked (ancestry, familysearch)

People I'm looking for are:
Mary Davis (c1879) born PA according to 1911 UK census

She hopefully married Arthur Roberts (b 1869) while in the US as they had one or more children born there including Edna Roberts (c1900) also born PA

Edna strikes me as an uncommon name in the US but it's not helping me much. Any pointers gratefully received

Staffordshire / 1871 Census Wolverhampton Address help needed
« on: Wednesday 20 August 08 12:25 BST (UK)  »

Looked up the 1871 census for relative and I can't make out what's written as the address. findmypast lists it as Dudley Road but the image is clearly not that although the street name prior to this entry is indeed Dudley Road.

What's interesting is that there's 2 pages with exactly the same location so whatever it is, it's big. I just don't know enough local info and can't interpret the writing here to guess what's written.

Hoping someone can help.

Cheers,
 Graeme

Staffordshire completed Look up Requests / Re: 1871 Lookup. Henry Lester b.1850

Actually I found it. Managed to find his wife to be as well while I was at it.  It turns out she was living just around the corner, probably only a couple hundred feet away.

I've picked up two extra skills along the way as well so it was a great wee find. Many thanks!

Cheers,
 Graeme

Could be it! His wife was from Darlaston and apparently his marriage cert lists him as a blacksmith.  He must have had a holiday from mining for a while :)

Can I trouble you for the reference? Amazing how you can search and search and someone pops up and nails it in 2 minutes :)

Trying to find 1871 Census entry for Henry Lester. b 1850 in Wolverhampton or Cockshutts.  Occupation likely to be a Coal Miner.
He was married late 1871 so may be boarding or visiting. I've found the rest of his family in 1871 census but he's on "at home".

Have entries for 1861 and 1881 but this one is eluding me.

Cheers,
 Graeme
