Durham Lookup Requests / Re: Raine & Harrison Startforth
« on: Monday 08 July 19 04:25 BST (UK)  »
Hi

I do realise that Startforth is in Durham now however at the time Thomas Raine stole the sheep it was in Yorkshire so I just thought I would post on both boards in case someone had access to records for when it was in Yorkshire.

Cheers
Sue

Durham Lookup Requests / Raine & Harrison Startforth
« on: Monday 08 July 19 00:30 BST (UK)  »
Looking for info and family connections to Thomas Raine who stole a sheep from Thomas Harrison of Startforth in December 1831. Thomas Raine (29) was a butcher and I believe Thomas Harrison may have been a farmer. Thomas Raine was married to Philis Longstaff in 1829. When Thomas was being transported in 1832 it was reported that Philis was with her father, Thomas Longstaff at Galgate. I would love to hear from anyone who has any information on the Raine, Harrison or Longstaffs mentioned or if you have any connection to these families. Kinds Regards from Australia.

Wiltshire Lookup Requests / Knowle Common - Meaning
« on: Friday 03 August 07 01:46 BST (UK)  »
I have a Will dated 1785 for a John Gatehouse and in it he refers to his mother Mary living at the entrance to Knowle common.  John Gatehouse was living at Mere and I assume that Knowle Common must have been there as well.  Does anyone know what this was referring to?  He goes on to mention his Orchard which backs on to Knowle Common!

Wiltshire Completed Lookup Requests / St Michaels Mere - GATEHOUSE
« on: Friday 03 August 07 01:42 BST (UK)  »
I am looking for the marriage of  William Gatehouse and Mary ? at St Michaels Church at Mere Wiltshire.  I believe the date would be around 1740 or so.  Also the birth of the William and any brothers and sisters would be great.  I believe the family had been in the one area for quite a while.   Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
