I will certainly follow up on the three websites you cite before we leave.  I have requested the David Butler book on inter-library loan, and failing that, have located a used copy in England.

My wife has picked out all the places we are to go. Now I am to locate each on the map and plan our travel. We will stay at B & B, and expect to tour about 10 days, after researching for five days. You have reminded me to take a raincoat and umbrella.

Thank you kindly for your insights and suggestions!

My next step will be to order the book you cited. However, I doubt I'll get it before we leave for Ireland. Thank you for your valuable assistance. Clearly, this kind of research can be puzzling!

I got the name "Kileagh" from Ancestry. com.  OneWorld Tree shows 15 User-submitted trees using that Birth Place for Thomas Hutton. www.thecore.com/seanruad shows no townland by that name, but Civil Parishes named Killinagh and Killegil which may be possibilities.

When I Googled Kileagy, Cavan, Northern Ireland I was led back to rootsweb archives for 1998. A message there indicates a Jane O'Brien has finished tabulating the gravestone inscriptions for Killeagh Graveyard close to Midleton, County Cork. I will e-mail her to find out if the name list included Huttons and Starkeys.

Thank you very much for your valuable assistance!

Thank you very much for the Genealogy.com citation. It included helpful information I had not found in other places. However, I believe it still places Cotterlaugh in County Cavan. Here is a copy of the actual citation in question:

"Joseph Hutton, born Abt. 1689 in Cotterlaugh, Carlow MM, County Cavan, IRE; died 1735 in New Garden, Chester, PA;"

I suspect this is a Quaker meeting house, but can't locate it. My ancestor, Joseph Hutton, is listed as having been born there in 1689. My wife and I will be in Ireland Sept 1-16, and hope to explore the sites of our ancestors. We will be most grateful for any help!

Records of four of my ancestors refer to "Kileagh, Cavan." I can't locate that on townland lists. My wife and I will be in Ireland Sept 1-16, and want to look up the sites where our ancestors lived. My ancestors were Thomas Hutton, b. 07 Feb 1656/7; John Hutton, d. 1684; Nicholas Starkey, b. 1640; and Sarah Starkey, d. 1700. Any assistance will be deeply appreciated. This may be our only chance to connect with our Irish roots!
