Staffordshire Lookup Requests / 1841 Staffordshire lookup Willenhall
« on: Wednesday 07 September 05 12:42 BST (UK)  »
I am looking for Thomas HADLEY (b. 1815 Willenhall) and Mary HADLEY (b. 1816 Birmingham) in the 1841 census. Children at that time would have been Sarah (b. 1840 Willenhall) and possibly Jabez Lane (b. 1841 Willenhall).

I am particularly interested in their address, and any other people that were in the household at the time.

Thanks in advance,
Julie

Staffordshire Lookup Requests / Michael LANE in 1841/51
« on: Wednesday 15 June 05 06:11 BST (UK)  »
Can anyone find a census record for Michael LANE in these years please? He was a Key maker probably living in Wednesfield, but other areas of interest are Willenhall and Wednesbury. I'm not sure of his dob, but it would probably be around the 1790s. Admittedly this is a stab in the dark, but I'd be grateful of any leads.

Cheers,
Julie

Problem solved.

Would someone please be able to look up the following in the 1891 census of Walsall for me?

RG12/2253/Folio 109/Pg 35

I just happened to be doing a routine search on the FreeCEN website when I came across an extra person in my family! He is Enoch PROFFITT, aged 14, Brown Saddler's apprentice. Could someone set the record straight for me as this is the first I've heard of him and I can't find mention of him anywhere else!

Thanks,
Julie

Thanks so much for your help. This has confirmed that at least Joseph was related to my family - having found his brother Reuben (my gg grandfather) in 1861.

Thanks again,
Julie

I am looking for a few WORTHINGTONs in Willenhall in 1851/61. Can anyone find any of the folowing for me please?

1. Joseph WORTHINGTON, b. abt 1839? In 1881 he was recorded as coming from London Little Willenhall, London, Middlesex, but I think there may be a mix up there - his children were born in Willenhall, Staffs, (1866-80).

2. John WORTHINGTON snr (b. abt. 1835, Willenhall) who was married to Mary Ann, and  John WORTHINGTON jnr (b. abt. 1859, Willenhall).

I am hoping there may be a connection betwwen the two and that I might find some clue to link them in to the rest of my WORTHINGTONs in Willenhall.

Thanks,
Julie

Kent Completed Lookup Requests / Re: 1861 Lookup please

Thanks Emma,

The information is interesting!! I wonder why Daniel is listed as single. He certainly could be the right person. I think I have found him in 1881 - married to someone else with 5 daughters!

I know that the father of Susannah Amelia BURROWS (as listed in 1871) was Daniel James BURROWS, and her mother was Hannah Maria. Perhaps Hannah took his name and declared herself a widow in 1871 because they had "separated". I have yet to find any record of her marriage to anyone by the name of BURROWS. Some official certificates may help I think!

Perhaps being a seaman made it easy to lead a double life?

Thanks again,
Julie

That's them!! Thanks very much. I didn't expect that Hannah was married by then, her husband was Daniel BURROWS, my husband's gg grandfather. The date discrepancy is quite substantial, but I have estimated that based on later censuses and so it may not be accurate. It is interesting that her father was a Seaman - perhaps this is how she met her husband (who was a master mariner).

Thanks for the link - that may prove quite useful.

Thanks again ;D

Hi Casalguidi,

Chatham, Kent is the place. I don't think I had this info when I posted the message. I look forward to any information you might be able to find.

Cheers,
Julie
