Abel Barber doesn't appear to be in Kidderminster in 1871 census. He's back there in 1881, widowed Carpet Weaver, with John Henry living with him.

There is an Abraham Barker (looking at the original it could be Barber), married, age 36, Carpet Weaver, born Kidderminster, lodging with a family of Kidderminster born Carpet Weavers in Framwellgate, Durham.

A possible candidate for Mary Ann Jackson in 1891.

21 Henzell Street Stockton,
William Telford, 37, Iron Worker Puddler, b. Blackhill,
Mary Ann Telford, wife, 39, b. Wolviston,
John Thos Telford, son 3, b. Stockton,
Jane Ann Telford, dau, 7m, b.Stockton.

Family name is transcribed as Leeford on Ancestry. A person has corrected the family name to Puggmur. William appears to be Puggmur in previous census, and the children appear to change their names back to Puggmur in adulthood.

No suitable Telford births, but there are these Puggmur births on GRO in Stockton, not a very common name.

John Thomas Puggmur, 1888, mothers maiden Keeper, but Jane Hannah Puggmur birth, Dec qtr 1890 has mothers maiden name Jackson.

William Telford and family are still in Stockton in 1901 and 1911, but with a different wife.

There is a death of a Mary Ann Telford in Stockton in 1894 aged 43.

Can see any suitable marriage for William and Mary Ann though.

There is this family in 1861 census in Walker, Newcastle.

Patrick Duffy, 30, Bricklayer, b. Sligo, Ireland,
Susan Duffy, wife, 28, b. Derry, Ireland
Margaret Duffy. dau, 8, b. Glasgow.
Daniel Duffy, son, 6, b. Glasgow
John Duffy, son, 4, b. Glasgow
Thomas Duffy, son, 2, b. Newcastle
Susan Duffy, 1 wk, b. Walker

Mothers maiden name for Thomas on the GRO website is Kain, for Susan (Susanna) its Kane. Baptism for Thomas on Familysearch is 11 Nov 1858, Newcastle, parents Patrick Duffy and Anna nee Kane.

Cant find them in 1871, but then there is this marriage in South Shields, 17 April 1876.

Neil Ferguson and Susanna Duffy, maiden name Kane.

So that could be the widowed Susan Duffy from from 1861 marrying Neil Ferguson Snr from earlier posts.

Neil Ferguson Jnr, born Sunderland 1872 has mothers maiden name Cain. So unless the Cain/Kane surname is a big coincidence, that would make the Thomas Duffy from earlier posts a half brother to Neil Ferguson Jnr. Birth is before Neil Ferguson married Susan but people sometimes told marital fibs.

The fact that Thomas Duffy has an older brother called Daniel Duffy might be significant.

One small problem with the Daniel Jackson birth, 21 May 1878, is that on the 1939 register Daniel Duffy gives his date of birth as 2 Sep 1877. But perhaps he didn't know when he was born since everything else about Daniel Jackson seems to fit.

Northumberland / Re: Elizabeth Ann Donkin born Newcastle c. 1865

If his fathers name is George on the marriage cert, then the William born York in 1843 is likely the right one as this George Duncan, or George Sedgewick Duncan on some records, was an Engine Fitter.

Can't see any connection between the two Duncan/Donkin families, other than a lady who fits the bill for being  William born York's mother appears to be living in Winlaton in the same house as William Donkin in 1861, the unmarried Chain Maker from 1871 and 81.

1861 census Winlaton.
Ann Donkin, wid, 36, b Derby, Derbyshire
William Donkin, son, Unm, 37, Blacksmith, b. Winlaton

I'm wondering if there was some confusion, William can't be Ann's son, so maybe there was another William Donkin in the household who actually was her son.

I can't find this Ann after 1861, but there is a death of an Ann Donkin aged 38, Sep qtr 1861, Gateshead, so that could be her.

George Duncan married Ann Maddocks in Derby 1841, George an Iron Turner, as was his father William.

In 1841 census in Derby, William is an Engineer, George is a Fitter, whole family Not Born in County. George Duncan baptized Tynemouth 1823, son of William Sedgewick Duncan and Mary Ann McIntosh. All of his brothers and sisters were baptized in the Tynemouth and Longbenton area.

William Sedgewick Duncan, born Longbenton 1795, son of George Duncan and Mary Sedgewick.

In 1851, Ann Donkin, 27, born Derby City, and son William, 8, born York City, are in Stockton on Tees. William Sedgewick Duncan and family have also moved to Stockton on Tees.

A George Sedgewick Duncan, assumed father of the William born York, can be traced through to 1881, with a new wife Martha/Margaret Brown, can't find a marriage for them, and daughter Mary, b. 1850 Lancaster. Working as an Engine Fitter in 1861 and 1881.

So the connection is maybe that Williams mother Ann, from Derby, was living as common law wife of William Donkin of Winlaton, and the surname was just a coincidence. That would make George in 1881 census the Step Great Nephew of Robert and Isabella Forster, or something like that.

The other executor of Mary Jane Blacks Probate is a Neville Forth O'Brien, Stockbroker. Checking through census he was born in Sunderland, son of Walter Creagh O'Brien. From Walter Creagh O'Briens newspaper obituaries he was the oldest son of Samuel Madder O'Brien, Solictor, Court of Chancery Ireland.

Mary Jane Black was the only daughter of the late Samuel Madder O'Brien Esq, Solicitor, Dublin, from newspaper reports of her marriage to Joseph E. L. Black, at St Stephens Church, South Shields, 1 March 1870.

So Neville Forth O'Brien was Mary Jane Blacks nephew.

One possible Alice.

Thomas McNay has a daughter Mary McNay who marries a William Days, 18 May 1840 Gateshead. Some family trees on Ancestry have kindly posted the marriage cert.

William and Mary Days have a daughter Alice, baptised Lamesley 1 June 1842. Abode is Eighton Banks, right next to Wrekenton.

William and Mary Days are living in Haswell in 1851, same township as Joseph and Mary McNay, but no Alice with them. Joseph McNay and Mary Days are both down as born Wallsend, Northumberland.

Alice Days reappears in 1861 age 19, born Wrekenton. According to various trees she marries a George Henderson in 1862 and subsequently gives her place of birth as Wrekenton in most later census.

There is an Annie Wardle in 1871 census, Servant, 22, Unm, Kitchen Maid, in Leeds General Infirmary.
Birthplace transcribed as Kettlesworth, Northumberland on Ancestry, but I suspect its actually Kibblesworth which is in County Durham.

In 1851 census, Kibblesworth :
Thomas Wardle, 46, Coal Miner b. Heddon, Northumberland,
Eleonar ", wife, 51, b. Elsdon, Northumberland,
Isabella ", dau, 20, b. Horton Grange, Northumberland,
Thomas ", son, 16, Coal Miner, b. Cowgate, Northumberland,
Elizabeth ", dau, 12, b. Kibblesworth, Durham,
Robert, son, 10, b. Kibblesworth, Durham,
Ann ", dau, 7m, b. Kibblesworth, Durham,

In 1861 census, Wrekenton, Gateshead,
Thomas Wardle, 58, Coal Miner, b. Heddon, Northumberland,
Ellen ", wife, 64, b. Elsdon, Northumberland,
Thomas ", son, Coal Miner, 24, b. Durham,
Elizabeth ", dau, 21, b. Durham,
Ann ", gr dau, 10, b. Gateshead,
Isabella ", gr dau, 6. b. Gateshead,
Robert ", gr son, 4, b. Gateshead

The Thomas Wardell 2 doors down from John George Dodds in 1871 in Spring Gardens is 29, Coal Miner, b. Newcastle. Tracing him forward the census with his family he is : 1881 - 39, b. Newbottle, 1891 - 48, b. Newcastle, 1901 - 63, b. Spital Tongues, 1911 - 68, b. Newcastle.

Spital Tongues is right next to Cowgate in Newcastle. His age jumps around a bit but I think the Thomas Wardle Junr from 1851 and 1861, is a good candidate for being this Thomas.
