« on: Wednesday 14 August 19 10:15 BST (UK)  »
Friends of Dundee Archives (listed in the Resources at the top of the Angus page here) has more about the Book of the Howff and the Howff Burial records themselves, worth a look.

Best wishes,
breaky

https://wiki.fibis.org/w/Sibpur#Spelling_variants

This gives "Seebpore" as one of the spellngs for modern day Shibpur.  Although the section  "Jute in India" on the site has maps, but I can't find the mill, but perhaps someone else can help.

Perhaps it's "Joiner"? - the J is the same as the J in Journeyman and the R at the end of Market Gardener  trails away along the bottom line in the same way?

Best wishes,

breaky.

Jen, sorry, our ancient computer gave up completely, so couldn't reply sooner.  I haven't yet found any links from my Inverkeilor Cuthills to Kinkell.  Best wishes.

You may have found her already(?) - but I can see a Mary Ann Cuthill with Patterson and Wyllie given as her 'other surnames' on SP who died aged 86 in 1896 at Forfar. (Just had a look through an old search list I had).

Friends of Dundee Archives website, in their Dundee Directories section, has Alexander in 1882, a clerk with Alexander Low & Son, living at  3 South George Street and in 1896, same occupation, living at 11 Nelson Street.  (Haven't looked for the Nicoll family, though).

(Had a few credits left).  Scotlandspeople has

12th June 1754 Forfar

"James Low Mason and Burgess in this Burgh had his Child baptized called William and born the same Day"

(Of the nine entries listed on the page, only three are not "Burgesses").

On the Strathcathro cemetery map, the Cruickshank family grave, with both Patrick and Marjory there among others, is close to the church, on the right hand side opposite the gate - perhaps someone local might be able to help?  I'll send you a pm.
