Roxburghshire / Re: Lilliesleaf - Dods

I think that is an error from the Latter Day Saints IGI, Carol  Nearly all the  Lilliesleaf christenings are supposed to be christened at Makestoun but there is no reason why that would be and there are too many for it to be correct.

Thanks been suggested before that it could be Harlestone but the M is pretty clear so just not sure.  I have a likely baptism at Maidford but can't put it on my tree as just not sure.

Yep Ancestry have it as Maryhill, Barony and FindMyPast have it as Maryhill, but say Lanark.

Halling is not a Scottish name and her death in 1861 doesn't give her husband's first name unfortunately and her will gives only one daughter Jessie living in Australia so this lady is a bit of a mystery.  Hoped the place she lived might give a clue but it is all confusing.

thanks for help.  She seemed to work as  a housekeeper for well off people and was proprietor of a  house on Garscube Road so perhaps it was same area.

The more you find out the more there is to find out!

Lanarkshire / Halling's Land whereabout Lanark

In the 1841 I have a Catherine Halling living at Halling's Land or Holling's Land, Lanark.  Because of the name of the person I am wondering if anyone knows where this is and if it was Holling or Halling?

Thanks
Barbara

Thanks both, no doesn't look like they have been transcribed.  I have her death record on findmypast but was hoping for her husband being on her stone too as I have lost him!

Thanks again
Barbara
