Lincolnshire / MILNER in Stamford
« on: Monday 27 September 04 07:51 BST (UK)  »
Have run into the brick wall with my gr gr grandfather, Thomas Milner (married to a Jane either Peck/Pock) who had his children in Stamford - both would have been born bet.1800-1816).  Their children were John (b c1832); Mary (b c1834); Thomas (b c1836); Robert (b. 12/1936 & m Ann Garland).  There were a couple of other children but they died at a young age.  Robert is my gr grandfather and I have info about his descendants  which I'm willing to share.  Any information about either his parents or his siblings would be appreciated.

Durham / SWALES/TAYLOR and their marriages in Durham
« on: Monday 27 September 04 07:29 BST (UK)  »
My grandmother's families (Swales & Taylor) came from Durham.  The Swales family from Hartlepool orginated (as far as my research has gone) with John Swales (abt. 1784-1827) who married Jane Hunter - children James (b1810 - more presently), Mary Ann(b1812 & d1812), James (b1815) & Robert.  This James married Margaret Turner in 1836 and had children - Margaret (b1837 & m Joseph N Metcalf); John (n1840 & m Anne Errington); Jane Elizabeth (b c1845 & m Thomas B Purves); Mary Anne (b1845 & m George William Taylor - both migrated to Australia); James Swales (b1847 & m firstly Anne Plaice & sec. Christine Hornby); Emma Turner Swales (b1849 & m James G King); Sarah (b1851 & m James A Armstrong); Alice (b1857 & m George M Hedley)

The Taylor family (m above to Mary Ann) came from the South Shields area.  George Taylor (b c1795 & m to Kathleen ??) were parents to Christopher Taylor b 1820 who married a Sarah Hodgson in 1841 in Jarrow.  Their children were the George William Taylor b 16/9/1842 who married Mary Ann Swales above and a brother William who was perhaps a teacher in London.

Very interested to contact anyone with connections to any of these families.

Roxburghshire / WILMOT/KYLE in Kelso, Roxburghshire
« on: Monday 27 September 04 00:59 BST (UK)  »
Does anyone have any knowledge/information about a family that lived in Kelso from the late 1700's to at least the mid 1800's?  Parents were William Wilmot and Janet Kyle probably married in the 1790's.  Children were Mary Anne, Jessy, Jane, Robert, Elisabeth, Margaret, Agnes, Hannah and Isabel(la) - all born in Kelso between 1798 and 1826.  Agnes, Hannah, Isabella, Margt & Mary still there in 1841 according to census.  Believe they may have married into families of Ryrie, Sadler, Murray, Whitelaw & Blyth respectively. Any help appreciated.

Lincolnshire Lookup Requests / Stamford Lookup please
« on: Sunday 26 September 04 07:38 BST (UK)  »
Sasha
Could you please see if you can find a Thomas Milner and his wife, Jane, in the Stamford census sample you have for 1861.  Both were born 1800-1816 i.e. would be between 45 & 60 yrs old.  His earlier occupation on a birth certificate for his son shows him as a Lawn Keeper - children with them could be Henry, Robert, Thomas or Mary.  Thanks --Judy
