Looks like a tough one.

Is the church still there?  Perhaps you could contact the local minister and find out where the Archived records might be?

The parent's might have been "witnesses' for the marriage.

I found james Shipwash Hall Snr and Junior in the Australian Electoral Roll 1901-1936 - gives at least their location in Ancestry.

at Corinella and Merinda.

Not much help with other info.

Thanks Leighton will check it out.

My Gt Grandpa's ship Nana said was Merceree and I found him on the passengers list on the Merkara - close!!!

So yes perhaps it was something close to Lady Jocelyn.

Always someone crops up with a different way of looking than you do yourself.

Much appreciated for all the helpful people on this site.

Hi,

As I've been trying to find my Gt Gt grandmother who migrated to Tassie, I remembered one of her children emigrated to UK with her English spouse.

Perhaps.  it might be easier to get a death certificate for her daughter?  Would it show the parents details ie Kate Snr and John Parkin? ???

Catherine (Kate) Parkin  b 3/3/1865 to Kate(Catherine Reid) and John Parkin in Longford, Tasmania

She married George E Maude in Ulverstone in 1890, they had 2 children there before moving back to Lanark, Scotland in 1897.  They moved to Maude's farm in Bentham, Yorkshire where 2 more children were born.

Kate died aged 48 in 1904 at Wharfdale, Yorks.

Children:(1901 Census) Letitia Nicholl 9; Mary Harriet (6) both born in Tasmania - Gertrude 4; Kate 3 born Bentham, Yorks.

Hi,

As far as I am aware Grannie came alone about 17 years old.  She was employed as a Nannie to a family named Gatenby in Launceston Tas.

I imagined it was like part of the clearing from western scotland.  Some were sent out like "bounty" ie had fares paid in return for working at homes as domestics etc.
