Hello again!
I was just checking out some old obits on line (as you do...) and I noticed an Arthur Wren Atkinson who died a couple of years ago in California and I can't but help wonder if he was a relative.
Could someone please check the 1930 census to see if Arthur Atkinson (aka George Henry??) born England about 1978 and his wife Annie are mentioned?
Much Thanks!

Hello again Meliora,
In the following quote does the Y in County Y stand for Yorkshire?
Hello, Scott,

The only thing I have managed to find is an entry for Ann Atkinson, 1841 & '51 in Wapping Workhouse.

HO107/715  bk 6  folio 3  page 2
Wapping District Workhouse  Wapping

Ann Atkinson  age 45    ..?.. Mangler  born in county Y

HO107/1550  folio 124  page 2
Wapping Distict Workouse  Wapping

Ann Atkinson  pauper  age 55  Washing  born Mile End, Middsx

There is a death that might fit.

Death
Thomas Isaac Atkinson
Mar ¼  1840   Poplar  2  246

How sad, 10 years in a workhouse

Meliora

If so is the Ann Atkinson in the 1851 census the same as the one in the 1841 census?
Thanks
Scott

Dear Sandra
That is definitely my family. Helena Teressa was my great grand mum (she was a great knitter - all the women in my family including my sisters knit as a result of her influence). I must check to see if any of the siblings went by the name of Arthur. :-\
Until then, thank you.

Thanks for that Sandra. The whole point of pursuing this line was to see if we had any family in California. Uncle Bert appears to be a dead end. I assumed that the Bert living with his brother Arthur found by Shellyesq was someone else but it looks like we are barking up the same tree. Is there any news on Arthur and Annie in later years?
Just to be sure could someone kindly check the 1891 census to see if Arthur and Egbert were children of George Henry and Ellen Atkinson. The only entry I can find in the 1881 entry has George as a grocer in the north of England. I can only assume there was a lull in shipbuilding at that time!
Thanks
Scott

Hello there!
It's me again.
I am interested in the 1910 Census mention of Arthur Atkinson as Bert's brother. It claims he was a marine engineer which would be in keeping with his fathers occupation. I believe he was born in 1878 in either Hartlepool or Wales. Is there any further info on him?
Many thanks

Hello Aiden!
I do believe we are related. Was your grandfather Norman Kiernander?
There is a tremendous amount of info on the Kiernanders going back to about 1497 in Sweden. This was put together by members of the Australian branch of our family which I am happy to pass onto you if you do not already have it.
My mother is Dorothy Kiernander and sadly she does not have much on her family. Apparently her grandmother Josephine Bampton (who I met many years ago) did not like to take or keep photos. And yes, she was a Kiernander as well which plays havoc when trying to draw out the family tree.
She was one of three sisters who married three brothers of the Hill Family.
I would love any info you have on the King Family. Did they originate from Barbados? Do you know anything about Dorothy King's mother ?
I eagerly look forward to your reply?

Hello again!
Would someone be so kind as to check what Edward Hill's family were up to in the 1911 Census?
Thanks
Scott

I am afraid I have no idea! All I know is that his father's name was Benjamin Cecil Hill born about 1865 and died in India about 1918. He married Alice Georgianna Dubois who died in 1943. Edgar may have been working in banking in India. He married Josephine Bampton who I clearly remember from my youth.
