His fathers Death Certificate has him aged 37 which makes his birth 1876 and being 37 he is still alive somewhere in 1913.  ???

Have just found an Obit for Emma Jane from 1943, it says she is survived by a son, William and six daughters, so John is deceased before 23/8/1943. "The deceased, when a child, had travelled with her parents across the Blue Mountains in a bullock wagon. Mrs. Martin had resided for many years in the
Drake district, moving to Bottle Creek four years ago."

I can only seem to find 2 entries for Emma Jane Martin in Richmond, Lismore.
One in 1936 which says c/o Bird, John Street. Now I looked at Bird on the same Roll and there is none for John Street.
One in 1930 which says Hollingwood Street. She appears to me the only Martin in Holligwood Street

From the other childrens births they seem to have started in Hill End then Balmain and then Drake which is where my current family interests are. I don't seem to be able to find John Thomas Martin and his wife Emma Jane Hancock on the Electoral Rolls yet.  :-\ :-\

Hmmmh, I don't know, All the trees I have seen have 10/7/1925 but no sources. So far the rest of the family seems to be scattered from Sydney up to Lismore. Not that it is wrong but I have nothing to send me looking in another State. Maybe I need to look at where his parents have been.

Australia / John Thomas Martin
« on: Thursday 22 August 19 02:11 BST (UK)  »
Good Morning All,

Whilst waiting for confirmation of details on the paternal side of the family I have started on the maternal. I am starting with John Thomas Martin. Born Oct 1875 Hill End. Parents are John Thomas Martin and Emma Jane Hancock. I have found a "tree" with a death of 10 July 1925 but cannot confirm this. I have also not found a wife. He had 11 (wow) brothers and sisters that I will go through one at a time, one being Great Great Grandmother Lucy Marion Martin. She is the reason for this side of the family hunt.

Can anyone shed some light on John Thomas Martin born 1875?

UPDATE: What I am now clear on:
John Thomas MARTIN born 1875-1876 Hill End, New South Wales.
Parents: John Thomas MARTIN & Emma Jane HANCOCK.
In 1913 he was alive and aged 37 from his father's death certificate.
In 1943 he was deceased as his mother's obituary names only one surviving son.

Thank you so much, JM

I think I will leave Richard for this week as I have ordered the Marriage Certificate to confirm his parents.

I can confirm his wife's parents from her headstone. They are John Thomas Martin and Emma Jane Hancock. So, that would definitely be her family on the 1902 Electoral Roll. I might trace her family for now, until I am certain on Richard, as her family shows an Edward that I am not aware of. Even though she died at the tender age of 26 she is still family.

Just to let you all know that I am back doing research and photos for Bundaberg if anyone needs anything at all. Always happy to pay it forward for all the wonderful help I receive here. I have photographed a great deal of Bundaberg General Cemetery and the Catholic Cemetery. I also go to Branyan Gardens, Springfield Gardens and the Library.  :) ;D

Have checked findmypast for the 1904 marriage for Richard J Ludlow and Lucy M Martin and it is just a record of what is available from bdm nsw (ref 3744/1904 district Drake). Looks like you will need to get a copy of the actual document to see more information.

Thank you Jackie,

Yes I have ordered a transcript. I was curious as to what info was available on FindMyPast as opposed to Anc. I appreciate you looking for me, saved me some money, yay.  ;D
