Re: USING TNA Reference Number

then if you do a blank search (no names or places) just using the reference, you ignore the RG101, the piece number (in my eg) 0950E and the item number 009

As well as this when you have loaded one up, to find another person in the same household just change the web address in your browser's bar, so if the address was www.123/345/56/67 change the 67 to 66 or 68.

Thanks Dawn

I found this very helpful and have manged to find other people in households where I didn't know their names.

Having found one chap I went back to the general FindMyPast search and put name and year of birth in to see who he was.

Besides the usual results census, BMD etc I found an entry for him listed as being in 1939 Register,  which took me back to the entry I had found in 1939 Register

So it looks as though the 1939 Register is integrated into the main search database.

This may not be "news" but I thought it was interesting and could be useful matching people up.

Breconshire / Re: MI in Brecon Cathedral Graveyard for Richard Smith 1839

Thanks for info about where Old Port Superior and Inferior were in Brecon.

I take it that they weren't separate parishes.

I wondered if you know if the MIs for The Cathedral have been recorded?

Thanks again for any help

Breconshire / MI in Brecon Cathedral Graveyard for Richard Smith 1839
« on: Friday 19 September 14 21:33 BST (UK)  »
Hi

I visited Brecon Cathedral this week and happened to notice a gravestone in Churchyard which I read as "In memory of Richard Smith of the parish of Bridport who died 19th October 1839 aged 61. I assumed this was Bridport Dorset but I found a burial record for him in the registers here - his abode is given as Old Port Inferior.

He seems to have married in the same church in 1815, so I'm wondering if i got the inscription wrong.

Any help would be most appreciated

Dorset / Re: Ann Brown

Hi

I came across your posting about Ann Brown and her husband Benjamin Hounsell and your quest for her birthplace. (I have Hounsells on my family tree from Long Bredy).

I wondered if Shilverton could be a corruption of the name Shilvington also known as Shilvinghampton which is a hamlet in Portesham,  a village between Bridport and Weymouth.

This may be a red herring but worth a look?

Regards

Maureen

Nottinghamshire Lookup Requests / Re: Burial - CROFT(S) Clarborough
« on: Thursday 09 June 11 22:52 BST (UK)  »
Hi Carol,

Thanks for taking the time to seach out more information for me.

I was pleased to see that my suspicion that James had married twice was confirmed by the burial of his first wife Ann in 1832 and his remarriage in 1833 to Mary Theaker.

I think Francis buried in 1827 is probably his father.

Many thanks again for your help

Hi Carol,

Thanks for taking time to look if there were  burials available for Clarborough.

In their absence, the Clarborough MI's were an unexpected bonus.

William Crofts 1 Dec 1922 (3) ? aged 74
Susannah Crofts 1 Jan 1929 aged 66

relate to James & Mary's son and his second wife

I'm not quite sure about "William Crofts of Little Gringley died 3 Jan 1906 aged 43" but think he is probably a grandson. I will check him out

Many thanks again for your help

Nottinghamshire Lookup Requests / Burial - CROFT(S) Clarborough
« on: Thursday 26 May 11 18:05 BST (UK)  »
Hi

I am researching the CROFT(S) family who lived in Little Gringley and seem to have used Clarborough parish church.

I have James and Ann Crofts baptising children there 1821 - 1827. Then there is marriage of James Crofts and Mary Theaker  in 1833 and subsequent baptisms of their children.

I think Mary is the 2nd wife of James and that Ann CROFTS died between 1827-1833.

I would be grateful for any burials for Ann Crofts in this period (or any other Crofts in this parish)

Many thanks

Maureen
