Hi,
I have been sent a scanned image of the birth registration of my grt grandmother, Margaretha Barbara Schumann (known as Margaret Babette Schumann after she came to the uk).

I can translate most of the typed elements, but the handwritten script is not so easy. Can anyone help with this?
The file is too large for the forum but I could email it?

Many thanks

London and Middlesex / Re: Where was my Grt Grandfather on census night, 1911?

Thank you, but that's not him. I have been checking the voter registers and it looks like William was on the list for 1911, with an address of 10 Taybridge Road. This is not where his wife and children were living when the census was taken. in 1901, they were all at Marmion Road, just around the corner to Taybridge Road. In the 1911 census, I can't find any records for 10 Taybridge road, although all other numbers seem to have been enumerated. Very strange.

He was either a cheesemonger's assistant or provisions merchant.

Hi,
I have been researching my family history for many years and have uncovered lots of interesting information. However, one question still remains un-answered. When the census of 1911 was taken, My grt grandfather, William Swaffield did not appear on the record with his wife and children at their home address. I can also not find him at any other address in the census records. In the record - below, Mabel is listed as his wife, rather than her being HO so that I believe suggests that he would normally have been there (and I know they weren't divorced). If he was out of the house, but not in any other place where he would have been enumerated, i.e in the pub - should he have been listed as the head? What if he was in a police cell, workhouse or other such place - could this be the reason? William was born in Bristol in c1857 but i can't find him anywhere. Any suggestions?

Europe / Re: German ancestor ?

Hi,
Thank you for your reply. Since I posted that info, a couple of things have come to light. My great aunt Olga, who was the last of Margaret's children, died last Autumn. Amongst her belongings were many photos, mainly form her fathers side (Roiz de Sa), but there was one of Margaret as a young woman, probably in her late teens. The mark on the back was Nuremberg. At the funeral, some my great aunt's nieces suggested that Margaret had said that she came from a very large, poor family and had arrived alone in England aged 20. They also said that she considered herself Austrian, rather than German.
All a bit woolly, but something to consider.
Regards
Richard.
