Cumberland / Re: Tear family of Whitehaven, help needed

There were definately two or three, possibly more,  Tear families in Whitehaven at the same time. Most probably related.
Thanks for info about Eleanor. Father is Thomas not James and same with Elizabeth. George son of James and Elizabeth dau of Thomas were baptised on the same day. Wondering if thomas and James might have been brothers. More to check.

Thank you for the information. I'll try again to find the rest of the family in 1841. Just want to know why the two little ones are in the workhouse. Might be a possibility that the Ann who died as a baby could have been a twin to Sarah, there was another set of twins in the family.

Cumberland / Tear family of Whitehaven, help needed
« on: Wednesday 03 October 18 16:44 BST (UK)  »
I am looking for help with the Tear family of Whitehaven, Cumberland.
I have details of Martha Tear 1831 who married William Pharaoh. Her parents were James and Ann Tear.
I am looking for details of her family. I think two of her brothers, James 1821 and Robert 1827 were killed in a mining accident in 1839. In 1841 Martha and her sister Sarah 1837 were in the workhouse but with no other members of their family. Their mother Ann may have died in 1837. Other siblings are Elizabeth 1824, George 1824, Eleanor 1825. I have no other details of parents or the children. Cant find any in 1841. I do not know what happened to the father James Tear.
