Many thanks for your info Ros, I am afraid I know nothing about William Henry Heath, but will keep searching, will let you know if we are related, if I can get back that far. I expect I will have to get a marriage certificate in the hope that that will give me his Father's name to start with.

thanks crafter

I think my grace had at least one brother - richard.

Re  William Henry Heath

I am one of those who have been writing about the Jervis/Jarvis family of Blythe Marsh and the west country.

My ggg grandfather was John Jarvis/Jervis who married Grace Heath, d/o Ellen Ash and John Heath.    John and Grace were earthen ware hawkers as were all the Jarvis who ended up in the west country with china and glass shops.

Blythe Marsh is not a big place alhtough Heath is not an unusual name thereabouts.   Still the potsellers were apparently a bit of a closed group so it is possible we are connected way back.

Do you have any idea to whom your Heath were connected?   I have no proof but I believe my John Heath's parents were Ann Chell and Thomas Heath who married at Dilhorne in 1768.

Thank you Graham - I was mixing you up with another Graham who is researching another branch.   I'm trying to follow too many lines!

I'm In Market Harborough so if your Leics connections are around here I may be able to help.

I'll reply to your other post when I have worked out how to do it ....

Ros

By the way the Jervis line I'm following settled into Jarvis eventually

The Samuel Jarvis who is 7 years too old for yours is in fact mine.

Have we corresponded before Graham?

There were 4 males in Blythe Marsh in the early part of the 1800s and three of them had a son called Samuel.  Mine is the middle one.  The oldest went on to ?marry a Penelope Stansborough and wandered around in a caravan (selling earthenware) and the younger eventually became a butcher in Blythe Bridge if memory serves me right.   Documents relating to these families are held by the staffordshire record office and I have photocopies.

Though I haven't been able to prove it I think all these males were related.  It is beyond chance that a relatively uncommon name in such a small place with members following the same occupation should be entirely unconnected - especially with the use of the name Samuel.    The documents I referred to seem to suggest a connection anyhow.

Whereabouts are you?   I made contact with a woman in South Africa who also is interested in these families.
