Gloucestershire Lookup Requests / Re: Cheltenham Parish Records lookup please
« on: Saturday 18 March 17 18:34 GMT (UK)  »
Hi Louisa,
my tree seems to join your tree at the point of the marriage of Joshua GREEN and Betty (Elizabeth) HAYLINGS.
I have found 8 children (and plenty of grandchildren-5 from Thomas and 16 of the 19 from Benjamin(when he wasn't in prison or on a prison ship bound for Oz) !!) of this couple and have some data on all of them, on some more than others.
Which of these are you descended from?
If you need any information, I'll be glad to share anything I have and when I know which line you're from maybe I can share some of yours?
As far as Matilda is concerned, I don't have any info on her death, only the data I already posted.
Well, that's it for now. Anyone wanting info pls contact me either on Rootschat or via my Email address or Facebook.
Marshall

Hi there, my name is Marshall HAILING from Birmingham, England.
The Matilda GREEN you mention is one of my family tree members.
Matilda Green
* bapt. 16 Aug 1818 St. Marys church, Newent, Gloucestershire. (Abode was Gorsley, Newent, Gloucestershire.)
* marr. 16 Oct 1837 St. Marys church, Cheltenham, Gloucestershire. (Abode was Exmouth Street, Cheltenham, Gloucestershire.)
* her spouse was Edward STEPHENS (of 9 Cleeve Terrace, Cheltenham, Gloucestershire.)
* her father is Joshua GREEN and her mother is Betty HAYLINGS (one of my family members)
* his father is Samuel STEPHENS, a Labourer.

I don't have any other information at the moment, but maybe it will help to unmuddy the waters a little bit.
regards
Marshall.

Hello to anyone & everyone researching the HAILING(S)/HAYLING(S) family lines.
I have noticed that there now quite a lot of people researching this family name and drawing up the various family tree lines, but so far every one of them, including my own, has stopped at William Hailings and Betty Roberts and their marriage in 1778.
It would appear that no-one has yet managed to find their baptisms/parents/location. I confess to be frustrated at the lack of my own progress on this and have been searching other HAILING family trees for clues as to whether any one else has the information I need, but it seems not.
However, I would like to put forward a contender.....

See Gloucestershire Baptisms, Marriages and Burials (Oxenhall registers) 1538-1813
(as viewed on Ancestry.co.uk)
and you will find.....

William son of James and Elizabeth AYLINGS baptised 29 April 1758

and just a few lines below that entry you wil find.....

Betty daughter of John and Mary ROBERTS baptised 08 October 1758

That's the best fit I can find. I invite and welcome comments on these records, especially if you have any alternatives, otherwise this is the best fit for me.
Just an additional note, there are other AYLINGS in the records, maybe they are siblings?
I will attempt an attachment here. sorry, it says file too large. Email me if you want it, or you could just look it up yourself?.... hmmmm

Thanks for reading

Hi again Richard. It's not allowed to put a straight Email address on these sites in case of 'robots' so the best way I can describe it to you is        marshall(then a dot)hailing(at)Hotmail(then a dot)co(then a dot)uk    or look me up on facebook. both my email addresses are on there.
sorry about having to write it this way, but its for the best practice to 'stop the bot'.
I'm really looking forward to hearing from you. Say hi to your family and to granddad.
Marshall.

Hi Richard, yes I still receive messages from this site. You are most definitely related to my family and I would really like to see alot more details of your particular line, from yourself, your parents, your grandparents (Cedric David Richard Haylings I presume?)(but please confirm). Do you have any old photographs of any of your line? The earlier the generation the better.(going right back to the printers?) I have no details of you, your parents, only very basic info on Cedric and his sister Helen and on Edgar and Rosie. Need some from the next generation up. Basically I just cant get enough !!  Ha ha.  Let me know what generations you have info on and I can provide quite a bit of information for yourself if you need any yourself, please ask away and I will be only too pleased to help. You can contact me through this site or by my personal Email account or through facebook. Happy hunting. Marshall Hailing. Birmingham.

Hi Louisa, my name is (Derrick) Marshall HAILING and my ancestors were from Oxenhall, one of them being Betty Hailing, and various other spellings of the surname, but the bit you may be interested in is that she married Joshua Green in Oxenhall in 1807 as you say.
This is just a heads up to say hello. I have no information on the Green family except that Joshua Green came from Pauntley, according to the transcripts of their marriage. Does that help?
anyways, happy hunting. Marshall.

Hi Naomi, I have just sent you a msg on facebook.  I believe you have a brother Bert Hayling, and that you live in the Bahamas?  Last contact i had with him was over 10 years ago !!!!!  We had alot of email discussion about your family tree at that time, so you may want to see him to see if he has any info you are missing.  I cannot confirm any links between my family and yours, but hey, who knows.  havent finished researching yet !! Say hello to Bert from me and get in touch via email (see my facebook account for the address).
regards Marshall Hailing, Birmingham, England.
