Thank you very much for your help.   It was a beautiful building too shame it has now been knocked down.

Warwickshire / Jaffray Hospital Erdington

Hello, I was wondering if anyone has any information on the Jaffray Hospital at Wood End Lane, Erdington?

I discovered that one of my ancestors was a patient there on the 1901 Census.  He was from Rock Worcester on the Shropshire Border so this place is quite a distance from there.

Hi OzJen,

I have Bishtons in my tree from the South of Shropshire Worfield and Astley Abbots etc.  I think we could be connected in some way?  I have a Mary Bishton born Tasley 1842 who was my 3 x Great Grandmother.

Hi, My Great Grandmother lived in Phoenix Place too. I've been to have a look at it and now it is is just a passage but you can see what the size of the dwellings were by looking at the wall some still have the back fireplace holes.  They were tiny.  One of the relatives that is is still alive explained about how it was to live there.  He met his future wife there too.  Must admit I did shed a tear or two when you look at what has gone and the shiny new monstrosities they are chucking up around it.

Thanks Dawn, I thought it was worth a shot. :)

I'm so intrigued about what the records hold it would put a lot of family myths to rest. I think I'm going to have to arrange a visit to London and see for myself.

Hi, would it be possible for someone who regularly visits the national archives at Kew to do a look up request for me?  I requested to have the documents digitally sent to me but the document I need to see was too long to send.  I have all the reference numbers and the name of the person.

It is quite a delicate subject involving a now deceased member of my family which no one who is alive today knows the true facts.  I would be truly grateful for any help.

Please message me for the details. Thank you in advance.

It probably served a lot of railway men and the Maltings workers.  It's great when you can find out the personal history of places those pictures posted here are brilliant!
