just trying to get ideas on where to continue looking / searching

Born 1878 Llanbrynmair and in 1881 with Grandmother (Margaret Hughes) - on census as grandchild with another grandchild Richard Evans {Ref RG11/5479}

1891 with mother - stepson to head - mother Ann Evans but maiden name Hughes in Pennal Merionethshire {Ref RG12/4587}.

After that blank i.e. 1901 until he marries Annie Williams of Llanerfyl in 1903 with their son Robert Edward Davies born in 1904 before he moves down to Bargoed, South Wales.

I have searched and searched but cannot find anything - he may have just not been recorded in 1901 - away military etc etc. I'm just out of options so fresh eyes may help shed light on his whereabouts.
