Europe / Re: Pluteci meaning
« on: Sunday 16 October 11 16:01 BST (UK)  »
Thanks for the reply.

I have managed to find this list of immigrants working in the UK in 1955 and have found a Pluteci which is my Uncle's father:

http://www.london-gazette.co.uk/issues/40557/pages/4564

I agree that the name may have changed spellings over the years to try and make it sound more local to wherever the family may have relocated to. The name here of Leonte Simion Pluteci is listed as being from Roumani (Romania) but that is the most I have been able to discover.

Europe / Pluteci meaning
« on: Thursday 13 October 11 19:38 BST (UK)  »
Hi all,

I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this or not but I'm looking for some help finding the meaning and family crest for the surname Pluteci.
I originally thought that it was of Romanian origin but have been informed by someone else that the name could have originated in Germany.

If someone could point me in the right direction or already knows anything of this surname then it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

So that explains how they met and knew each other and also explians why they were living in Barnsley when I was always told that my family had always been from Denaby. I can certainly clear a few myths up now!!!

This must be George and Mary-all the dates add up!!
It is possible that they used their middle names. If George was really Thomas George or George Thomas then that would explain why he had children called Thomas and George-were they named after him??

My grandmother may have Robert William RUSTON's birth certificate as she has a boxful of them at her house!! I'll check to see if it's there and if not i'll send for it.

Also just to clear up my confusion...on the 1891 census (49 Heelis Street Barnsley) for the HOLLING family, is Alfred HOLLING living with his brother Thomas and sister-in-law Ann? Did he move in after Sarah's death in 1887?

Thanks for all the hard work you've done...it really helps to have someone who knows what they are doing!!  :D

Hi i've just done a search on free bmd fro marriage between Robert William Ruston and Alice Holling and I've got a match!!!

There's a match for March 1900 in Barnsley so that is probably them and they must have moved to Denaby at a later date or possibly just decided to get married in Barnsley for some reason or another.

Sorry it's taken me a while to get back on here but i've been bogged down with work!!!

I have a first name for William RUSTON's wife.

She was Alice HOLLING.

I've also found out that William RUSTON was actually called Robert William RUSTON but chose to go by his middle name.

I spoke to my grandmother and she was still unsure of the dates of the children apart from the three we know (Alice-1913, Marian-1920 and Albert-1915) but she has let me know the order the children were born in, as best she can remember.

1. Sarah
2. William-possibly 1908??
3. Nellie- who was known by this name but could have actually been called Helen/Ellen/something else??
4.Alice-1913
5. George
6. Albert-1915
7. Marian

hope this helps

Thanks for everything. I'll check with my grandmother tomorrow (Alice's daughter) to see if sheknows anything else i.e. order of children, HOLLING's first name and any other info.
