Hi Alan My ancestor was Elizabeth Rose listed as licensee in 1891 census. Have you got any info? She married twice and lost her first (Yates) husband in 1882 and married John William Rose later that same year. He then died in 1890. Sounds like a tough life for Elizabeth with the long list of kids.  David

Thanks for the advice Steve.

Tonight I emailed Oxford FHS with an enquiry to run WALTON through the Parish Registers.

Shropshire / Re: WOODVINE - Shrops/Staffs

Hi Sharmar

Sorry long time to get back on this.

Have just been up to Shrops from London for a flying visit.
Sadly the County records office was closed for refit.
Did however get to Wem and Northwood and spoke with some Woodvines on their family farm.
No further with my own Woodvine research but this line is intruiging me.
There is this cluster in Wem area plus another cluster in Wolstanton, Staffs.
It looks like Ive got as foot in both camps.

Have you got access to any parish records etc?

That sounds brilliant Mum44.
Her two children were 4 and 2 in 1861 so that makes sense.
She went on to marry into the CUMMINGS family in 1863 to coincide with the birth of my ggrandmother.
Many thanks for the detective work.

I wonder if anyone can help me with Elizabeth LESLIE b. Abt. 1836 in Boarhunt.
I have her in the 1861 at the Fareham Workhouse with two young children.
Many thanks

Ive got a Septimus Miles. b.1799 in Stanton St Quinton just along the road from Hullavington. Presume there must be a link somewhere. Will look later. Son of Septimus was John b.1832.

Cork / Ann BARRY b.1828 Fermoy
« on: Tuesday 17 February 09 21:46 GMT (UK)  »
Folks

My whole lineage appears to English apart from Ann BARRY. This intrigues me and if I get some leads from you helpful folks I plan to travel to the Cork area with my bike and tent in the summer.

It looks like she was born in Fermoy 1828 and travelled to England around 1851/52 with baby daughter Mary Ann.

Barry is a common surname in the area so someone must be researching this line. Please get in touch.

Shropshire / WOODVINE - Shrops/Staffs
« on: Friday 13 February 09 07:21 GMT (UK)  »
Im making some progress on this line  - which is the maiden name of my maternal grandmother - still going strong at 94.

Woodvine seems to be a relatively rare name but I cant piece together the jigsaw.

Ive got Joseph Henry Woodvine b. Abt 1805 Wolstanton and his father John Woodvine (no information).

Joseph Henry's son appears to be James b. 1838 in Wem, Shrops.

Any others with a similar interest?
Or can you confirm the information in this post?
Thanks in advance.
David
