Thank you so much for that marriage date!!! I had decided Rebecca was a Birket and have her possible parents but not at my computer at the moment. I suspect your William Cleminson born about 1781, Black Sheep, is the son of William and Rebecca.

It's definitely the right place as I've seen Tonnary, Aughbog next to a residence on a baptism record.  Thank you Gaffy for your help.

Monaghan / Tonary Clones

Hello
I wonder if someone can help me.  I have seen people who were residing in somewhere called Tonary in the region of Clones.  I have looked on old maps and can't find any mention.
Thank you for your help.

I know this is 8 years later but I was just looking at Gertrude Eveleigh Muriel Jowitt.  Oswald was married to Elizabeth Fetherstonhaugh from Ireland and they lived in Yorkshire where they had four children.  He was there with her in 1901.  By 1911 he was in Paddington and she was in Ireland back at her father's house.  She lists herself as married.  So one has to presume there wasn't a divorce and Gertrude couldn't marry him.

Thank you both.  That answers my question perfectly. I saw also the man who was bankrupt had produced a France-Russian dictionary.

Occupation Interests / Occupation Foreign Correspondent

Hello
I hope someone can help me.
I see someone who worked for the large engineering firm Vickers being described as a foreign correspondent.  I immediately think of them being a reporter but what would it mean in this situation? Was that name given to people who dealt with overseas companies/clients?  Would they speak several languages etc?
Thank you for any help.
