Hello RuthT
I'm sorry it has taken so long to reply but I have had MAJOR computer trouble, resulting in a new hard drive after many attempts to get my data back (to no avail). So many thanks for the information. Are you researching the same family? Would be great to trade info.
Many thanks
Judith

Our Shropshire interest is the Johnson line from the Newport area. My husband's gggrandfather was Samuel Johnson b. 1813(?). Married Mary Hurst in 1849, daughter of Thomas Hurst, blacksmith from Weston Jones. Moved to Wednesbury area (1851), son Joseph (1866) was father to Benjamin, father of Stanley (1926), father of Robert (1961) my husband!
Would love to corroborate Samuel's birthdate and go beyond if possible.

Best wishes Judith

Hello Mo

Thanks for your very kind offer.  I have sent you a PM with all the details that I know.  Most of the information is anecdotal from my paternal aunt.
Looking forward to hearing from you.
With thanks
Judith

PS I discovered from my notes it is 1897, not 1894!

Can't answer the Ireland records but I am interested in Cres(s)well. My husband's ggrand mother was a Cres(s)well, the family on narrowboats around the Wednesbury area 1890s. Looking for a Caroline Cres(s)well. Have you any info?
Here's hoping

Wexford / Looking for William MAHON 1894
« on: Tuesday 23 November 04 18:18 GMT (UK)  »
Hello from a newbie!

I am looking for my grandfather's birth record.  William Vincent MAHON, b. 1894 Enniscorthy??, Co. Wexford, d. 31 December 1960, Hemel Hempstead.  He married Daisy Evelyn Spicer in 1924(?).
I believe his father was John Mahon and his mother was Mary Laughlin(?).  All I know anecdotally was that he came to England via Liverpool to fight in WWI and won the Military Medal for saving his CO's life.
I would be grateful for any help in looking for his records as I have no idea how to go about searching in Ireland.
Thanks in anticipation
Judith Johnson (nee Mahon)

Hi
I'm new here and I'm amazed at the information on offer.  My maiden name was Mahon. Father Patrick Vincent Mahon (1926-2003) and mother Olive Elsie Dunn (1925-). I am having trouble locating Mahons as my grandfather was born in Wexford, ROI (1894), and came to this country to fight in WWI via Liverpool. His parents were John Mahon and Mary (Laughlin????). How do I start to find my Irish ancestors, as I believe an awful lot of records were destroyed?
Any help would be appreciated.

Essex Completed Lookup Requests / William DUNN 1894-195?
« on: Sunday 21 November 04 22:11 GMT (UK)  »
I'm looking for any information on my gfather William John DUNN (b. Bermondsey 27 Apr 1894) who left my gmother and mother in 1937. It was believed he had relatives in Essex (some in Ilford Cemetary) but I am curious to know what happened to him after 1937.
WJD's parents were James William DUNN and Alice Jane YOUNG. He had numerous siblings and half siblings as his mother married a Robert Parker after JWD's death.
Any info would be gratefully received.
Thanks
Judith

Buckinghamshire / SPICER in Bierton/Broughton
« on: Sunday 21 November 04 12:46 GMT (UK)  »
I'm having trouble finding the Spicer family in Bierton. My gmother, Daisey Evelyn Spicer (dob 10?/06/1901) was dau of James Spicer and Elizabeth Talbot, and was born in Bierton. Anyone have any information about the Spicers around this time? I have anecdotal evidence that Elizabeth Talbot came from the Northchurch, Hertfordshire area. My father told me that most of the Talbots were buried in the Parish churchyard at Northchurch.
Here's hoping......
